You are still the biggest loser of an A&M fan here. The other ones are actually logical.

thats a sad mentality. ignoring A&M's situation, what do you expect? every team to play at their highest level each night?
just not possible.

Good win for Turgeon and the Ags!
Yeah the Aggies look pretty impressive. As does the rest of the Big XII. If not for OU, Tech would've had a legitimate shot at running the table and losing every conference game. Dead serious.
I think Baylor will win the conference this season. They have the talent to win it all too if their guards don't turn it over so much.

Funny how they give Leach the boot for something that seems like an every day thing for Bobby K.

Just my opinion, but it seems like he just sucks at motivating players. Far too often, especially on the road, the team just quits when things start spiraling out of control. He takes the "every game is a step in the right direction" approach even after losses, like the home loss against TCU.
The major problem, obviously, is that the team just fails to land any talent. Every year they get a new 6'8 guy who's athletic but can't do anything. I see these guys play at the rec everyday and they even struggle to win games there too. Just sad.

which when Bobby was first hired, I thought he was going to bring in some solid talent. There's no excuse why they can't bring in at least the same level of talent they did during the James Dickey days.
Anywhere else, Knight and family would be long gone, but apparently being buddy-buddy with Myers goes a long way towards job security.

We'll probably end up splitting with them like we always do.
This team's lack of consistent offensive production and a true go to scorer will eventually catch up to them, but their defense will keep them in most games. Turgeon has really done a great job so far.

I'm not sold on A&M being a top 10 team, either. But they are pretty good; already beat 3 top 20 teams, gave ou their first home loss and whacked osu. They aren't flashy but get the job done ala San Antonio. I think they are top 15 & should make it a game in Austin.
I'm trying to decide if I should go to the game against t.u. Wednesday.

I agree, I wouldn't say A&M is a top 10 team in the country but with their style of play, they can keep it close with anyone. This team is very athletic, rebounds well and plays great defense. I wouldn't say Texas is a top 10 team either though. It should be a good game but I could see the home team winning each game in this series.

The Ags certainly don't have the top level, NBA caliber talent that you think of when you think of what a top 10 team should look like. That being said I don't think you can say the Ags are completely undeserving of that ranking given their record and presence of some quality wins against ranked opponents.
I'm guessing the Ags split with Texas, lose to Kansas and drop 2 others along the way to finish 12-4 in the Big 12. That's probably good enough to keep them in the 10-15 range.

FT shooting has saved us all year, it's strange considering how shitty we've been in the past.
Btw Dash Harris has to lead the NCAA in dribbling out the shot clock. The guy single-handedly destroyed our offensive rhythm following the couple runs we were able to get on, I cringe anytime he has the ball. If it wasn't for his defense and a complete lack of ball handlers, I don't know how he'd ever see playing time. End Rant
Glad to see the team pull this one out.

I hate to badmouth one of our guys, especially when he seems like a genuinely good guy who tries so damn hard. It sucks that our point guard can't shoot (three's, midrange, FT's) and even misses a good deal of layups (or has them swatted by going right at a 7 footer without trying to use the rim to shield the ball or anything- Holmes does this too).
Next year we'll have Jamal Branch; hopefully he'll make us more dangerous. It's very annoying watching them dribble the clock out and then seeing Harris jack up a shot. I find myself screaming at the TV 'Not Harris! He shoots 20%! Anyone but Harris #%$*!'
Harris came in rated as a 4 star prospect. I don't know how the heck he managed to do that when he can't shoot worth a dang.

The thing that really annoys me about Harris is that he hasn't improved in his 3 years. You look at nearly every other guy on the team: Hibbert, Middleton, Turner, Walkup, Loubeau, etc. and those guys have shown significant improvement year to year. This team is dependent on its work ethic to make up for its relative lack of talent compared to KU, UT, and Baylor.
I just get the impression that Dash thinks he's a really good player and doesn't put in the work during the off-season. It's almost as if being friends with Baron Davis makes him think he's better than he is. I wouldn't really mind his lack of a jumpshot if he was a good finisher or made smart decisions, but he doesn't do that either. I hate to hate, but Dash is the achilles' heel of the team. At least BJ can shoot and make FTs.
I'm really excited to see what Branch will bring next year, cause we really need him.
DesignatedT
01-23-2011, 01:54 PM
Agreed. Dash plays excellent defense but he is pretty poor when it comes to everything else. I remember him being better last season which could have been Sloan taking a lot of pressure off of him. I would rather BJ be handling the ball down the stretch IMO. I'm definitely ready for the Branch era to start.

Jamal Branch cannot get here soon enough. Dash is offensive kryptonite, and he's our point guard. His offensive repertoire consists of:
1. Holding the ball and running out the shot clock
2. If he's feeling generous, delivering a bad/dangerous pass that's picked off
3. More likely though, missing a 3
4. Or a 2
5. Or driving the lane to throw up a prayer (blocked) in the hopes of drawing a foul (doesn't realize by now A. They rarely call it B. Even if they do call it, he can't shoot free throws either)
If he'd realize his limitations and just play defense, he could be a valuable cog. He hasn't yet though, and I doubt he will.
