Okay I tried to set up my ps3 with the internet but it would not connect. I got a cable modem and I tried connecting straight to the ps3.....So the question is do I need a router?????

I believe so. Not sure, but I think you also have to set up the router with a computer. Been a while since I did it. My daughters PS3 goes to a router, through a switch.

You should be able to connect directly from the modem. I don't see what this would be an issue.

I have 360 connected through a router though, but I think I did it straight from the modem without issues. Don't imagine it would be different with a PS3.

get the ps3 mac ip address, and manually put it into ur router port forward...

You don't need a router. It has a wifi adapter and an ethernet port. Just make sure you have Wired selected under your Network Settings. Should work with no problems.

I think he wants to use a router to have the 4 available wired ports. I use a router so that way my computer and 360 can be connected with wired connections for a faster speed.

Did it take you this long to figure it out, or did you figure it out and not just update anyone, allowing someone to bump an old thread?
