Boy what a patsy schedule to date! (by far the weakest and softest both overall and the last ten games of the top 15 teams by Hollinger's methods: http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerrankings

The last ten games have been at teams with a SOS of 0.364!

It is time for the LAL to show if they are really as strong as they can potentially be; or as bad as they have looked during the first part of the year at times including their nebulous quadruple loss streak.

I have watched them a number of games this year and so far - not impressed at all (while recognizing they are the champs and can turn it up, but will they?) Their ball movement is often terrible and weak teams drive on them with impunity at times and Odom has been overall the most consistent Laker with Gasol and Bryant variably playing like superstars. Bynum brings a lot but the pain in his knee may be worrisome sign and he looks very heavy and slower than in the past.

nebulous?

1. 1. In the form of a cloud or haze; hazy.

2. (of an idea) Unclear, vague, or ill-defined.

... as in "Dr Pain has a nebulous idea of what "nebulous" means."

Nebulous in the sense that many LAL fans discount the importance of the loss streak but the bottom line is no Jackson led team that lost 4 in a row has won a title. There were extenuating circumstances including their starting center being out, but in playing the patsy schedule and home heavy early schedule they have = losing 4 in a row should not be discounted. Perhaps, noteworthy is a better word than nebulous but to be fair there are are ill defined or nebulous shortcomings with the LAL that seem to be appearing this year = including that their star PF gets fatigued with major minutes, and Artest looks like a shadow of himself much of the time.

Surely the vaunted Gold and Purple are still talented enough to still win it all but will they? History and their performance to date this year should not provide much optimism to LAL fans.

The bottomline is no spurs team with duncan as a 4th option has ever sniffed the finals, thats noteworthy.

So 8 teams above .500 in the next 9 games for the spurs!? 5 teams above .500 teams in the next 9 games for the lakers?!

The next 9 games will be interesting :)

I'm pretty confused about the title of this thread. The Lakers play exactly two good teams from here until January 17th (Heat, Spurs). How is that much harder than what they have been playing?

A Phil Jackson coached team when on the verge of elimination in the finals (2004,2008) has never come back to win the series....until last year. I am sure that stat line was thrown around last year after the Celts went up 3-2.

yes..change the LAL to Spurs in the title since the spurs looks like they going thru some crazy teams in the next 2-3 weeks.

Yeah, Spurs have a rough schedule coming up. But we have a 4 loss cushion on LA as well. :flag:

Do you really think HC means that much to us when playing the Spurs? You didn't win a game last year against the Suns, and all you added was two rookies.:lol

But Dick is confident now & Splitter is gonna put us over the top :lmao.

Gasol has already complained about being 'fatigued' and won't last the entire season, and its only a matter of time before Bryant's knee becomes a chronic problem. Bynum's knee will eventually implode. Artest is a psycho and you have the crypt keeper running the point. So all you have left is Odom. Good luck.

Dick don't wanna see Artest for 7 games, although it may only go 5.

:lmao

the same Artest that looks like a tired dog out there??? :downspin:

I'm not sure what Artest you are talking about. Matty B has been stealing a lot of Artest's minutes all year. Many Laker fans would argue that Matty B should start some games over him because he is better in the triangle. Artest is hardly tired. He plays like 27 mpg with Matty B playing the remaining 21. For you stat geeks that means 0 mpg for Luke - so SFs like Dick will be fucked for 48 mpg - with no let up. :lol

Don't forget the fact that Kobe can't win without Shaq - love that one. Oh wait... now it's Kobe is "Big Man Dependent" to win his rings -- amiright Midnightpulp? :lol

:lmao, this Spurs team is maybe 2-3 months away from peaking, Pop himself even said they're focusing on just getting down their offense for the first half of the season.

Refer to any Spurs season in the past 10 years, I'm not making this shit up :wakeup.
