Mavs have been looking good as it gets but they will be struggling to perform when games turn tough as the playoffs begin. jump-shooting teams rarely get past the 2nd round, and i believe the mavs with current components aren't that good to replicate their "success" of 06.

Mavs/Lakers would be such a forgettable matchup. They have no history. Lakers would skullfuck them in a 7 game series unless Dirk goes 10-12 shooting for every game (though amazingly enough, I wouldn't put it past Dirk to do that).

Lakers would skullfuck the Spurs as well, but at least there's history between those two teams. It's just a more interesting match up.

Spurs/Mavs also have history and would be more interesting than Mavs/Lakers, but this isn't going to happen so it's fruitless to think about it.
