The 1995-96 Chicago Bulls went 41-3 before their fourth loss. 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers went 39-3 and 1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers went 37-3 before their fourth loss. We have a long way to go.

How about the best record before the 4th loss, in a 25+ team NBA? We don't care about records when the league had 13 teams.

Bulls 41-3, but who's the next best?

We have a long way to go?

We're not trying to win 41 out of the first 44 games in the regular season. We're trying to win one last championship.

History-making streak providing no cushion for Spurs (http://blog.mysanantonio.com/spursnation/2010/12/21/history-making-streak-providing-no-cushion-for-spurs/)
Tim Griffin

...Despite the fast start, Manu Ginobili isn’t taking anything for granted with the team’s early success or even comparing this team to any of the franchise’s previous four NBA championship teams.

“I really don’t even want to think about it,” Ginobili said. “We’ve never had a stretch like this over the years. So I think it’s a little different.”

Even with the current streak, Ginobili said the Spurs have much room for improvement. The Spurs have won three games in overtime this season and are 6-0 in games decided by four points or less.

“Those teams are a great part of our past, but in the present and future, we’re looking forward to building and being more solid,” Ginobili said. “We know we’ve won nine straight, but many of those nine were not great games that we had to grind out in the last few minutes. We had to make big plays or shots or we could have lost them. So we know we still have to improve.”

Here are the fastest starts in Spurs history after 27 games, including where those teams ranked in their division after that 27th game.

Team Record Pos. Margin after 27 games

2010-11 24-3 first +2 over Dallas

2004-05 21-6 first +4 over Dallas

2005-06 21-6 first +1 over Dallas

1989-90 20-7 first +3 1/2 over Utah

1990-91 20-7 first +1 1/2 over Utah

2001-02 20-7 first + 1 1/2 over Dallas

2006-07 20-7 tied first Even with Dallas

2007-08 20-7 first +2 1/2 over New Orleans

I'm not worried about the Mavs loss. We were on a 12 game streak and were bound to stumble at some point. We didn't play our best game against them.

The Mavs lost to the Bucks after their 12 wins.

Yeah, that Clippers loss was devastating. Especially the 2 points from Tony.

Actually this is something I like about our losses...
If it takes a bad game from Parker (8 pts 3ast 36% in loss) and Duncan (10/7 rbds 36% in loss) we should end up with a decent record.
