I don't know if I agree with the caveats placed on "the best" claims.

Tim is one of the best in the game regardless of those stats. We know that because we've watched him since his college days, and the fact that he has 4 rings and multiple trophies that say MVP on them.

That aside, there are far too many creative ways to push a point to into the light, using statistics. We could probably find a way to show that Ime is the best, if we only use certain stats.

Obviously PER is a big deal, but when a player gets 20 minutes (or whatever) a game, he's going to have more energy than if he gets 40 minutes a game. That doesn't mean his results are the best, because it's a 48 minute game.

Let's say Blair had these stats while he was on the floor, but he fouls out by halftime in most games. I wouldn't say he's the best in the game based on his playing time stats. I would say he has good results while he's playing, but being on the floor and not picking up fouls is part of being a good player.
