First, we had a 12-game winning streak that was eventually snapped by the other contenderin the West save from our team.

Now, we have a 10-game winning streak on top of the best record in the league.

Can the WCF just start right now? Its' going to be between the Mavs and Spurs anyways:toast:toast

As I see it, there's no point continuing with the futile exercise of playing the rest of the games in the West.

Trash talking aside, it's high time that the Mavs and Lakers meet in the playoffs. I would love to see both of the teams' frontlines go against one another.

Why? So you can hear Lakaluva talk even more shit while Mav fans bitch about how the series was worse than 2007, 2006, Toni Braxton, and Roy Tarpley combined?

It's good to be enthusiastic about your team, but it'd be wise to temper that enthusiasm. Without checking the stats, the Spurs have probably had the easiest schedule in the West. The best team your team has beaten all season is the Jazz, and the Spurs lost to the Mavs in their last match up.

Right now, the Mavs are better than the Spurs, mainly because they're playing better D.

And you'd be wrong. Lakers have had the easiest schedule by far.

Spurs play Dallas (again), LA, and Boston soon. Though I wouldn't be too concerned if they dropped one or two of those games, they should be good tests.

Just if the Mavs win, then all the shit talking of choking and being 0 and forever etc. Will blow up in lakerfans face.

I agree, the next few weeks will tell us if the Spurs are real contenders.

Yes lakers have had the easiest schedule so far and it isn't close. The spurs and mavs have had very similar strength of schedule (with a slight edge to the mavs, I believe)

Edit, it seems like the Mavs have more than just a slight edge on SOS

Can't say I disagree especially the way the Spurs have been playing defense lately. Then again as Spurs fans like to say "it's only December." The Spurs still have alot of time to improve, but I'd take the Mavs over them in a playoff series right now.

So the Spurs have had the 3rd easiest schedule in the West, next to the Kings and Lakers. You've still had an easy schedule.

I'm not trying to insult your team, but let's wait until the Spurs start playing championship contenders before we start making snap judgments.

Calling it the "3rd easiest" - while true - is still a little bit deceptive. Spurs total opponent winning percentage is .480

The spread between that and the Mavs opponent winning percentage (.532) is sizeable, sure.

But it doesn't come close to the spread between the "3rd easiest" schedule in the league (.480) and that of the Lakers - .411.

In any case I don't think for one second that the Spurs are first in line as championship contenders based on the season so far. Anybody who actually watches the game will tell you that the favorite as of right now has to be Boston.

true

in reality Spurs are playing piss poor defense. I am not sure why they have the best record in the league, maybe mostly because the rest of the league took a year off IMO.

But it is true Spurs display flashes of brilliance that has not shown since 2005.

Still, long way to go. Spurs need to start playing D otherwise it's a waste of a year.

geez none of the teams who have had one of the top 10 hardest schedules so far is a serious contender aside from the Mavs (4th) and maybe Jazz (10th)

San Antonio at 22? Magic at 23? Heat at 24? and worst of all, Lakers dead last at 30th???

Mavs most definitely have a great shot at winning well over 60 games if they stay healthy and focused, considering how they have weathered the storm of the early part of their schedule.
