Yes, that's great your phone has a kickstand or whatever, but this thread isn't really for that.

So, I want to know if there's anyone here that has an iPhone 3GS that's replaced the battery or have knowledge on someone else replacing the battery. This may apply to all models of iPhones. Who knows.......
What exactly happens within the phone, besides not keeping a charge long, when the battery is reaching it's end? Is the battery attached to any other function within the phone? My phone used to power down when I reached 2%. Lately, it shuts down when there's around 50% of juice. I'm a energy conserve nazi with my phone so all the battery draining stuff is turned off. Also, a couple of times my phone would just shut off and all of my messages are gone. I have to restore from a backup and i'm back in business. I'm hoping this is all tied to the battery going out. I'm thinking it somehow is tied in to the RAM of the phone. I got my phone new in July of '09. I just want to know if it's worth replacing the battery (about $20 and however long it takes to actually replace it). Any info will be appreciated. :toast

Lithium Ion batteries tend to wear out, doubt it has much to do with the RAM. You can check out the "lifetime" self install battery kits at places like rapidrepair.com - I think the tools that come with it basically break after one use, but it's not too hard to do.

Owned it since new? Ever drop it in water?
