I'm not worried about Manu. He has shown the ability to play poorly and be there when it matters. TP is more than capable of carrying the team for long stretches.

Tim is the one that concerns me short term and long term. His condition (whatever that is) is now effecting more than his offense. His defense and rebounding is suffering right now.

duncan's offense has been MIA for most of the season. don't know why people are just noticing it now. he should be on the floor though, his defense is light years ahead of any other spurs big. still wondering where mcdyess is.

Kobe and Manu have both struggled. Which ever player plays better in second half, will more than likely win the game. Duncan needs to show up on the offensive end as well, Tony can't carry this team by himself tonight.

If the Spurs don't score 100, the chances of them winning the game aren't all that great unless it's a real close game.

Live by the 3, die by the 3 as expected... Too predictable...
Let's hope this is another game of two halves as far as shooting goes...

Phil adjusted to the TP barrage by giving up the 3 pointers, like he always does, and we couldn't hit worth shit after that, which is par for the course when he does that.

If Duncan and Ginobili don't stop playing like they're scared to death of this team, then this team has no chance.

Parker, Bonner and Jefferson are the only ones who are playing with confidence. Everyone else is rushing their shots and playing hot potato with the ball.

Nice to see the coach is more concerned with experimenting than actually trying to win the game. A Blair-Bonner combo against Bynum-Gasol? No McDyess? Not enough Jefferson, like he's 35 and can't ever play 40 minutes. Too much coddling of Ginobili because he has a sore throat and managing of Hill's minutes, even though he said he's fine.

Very disappointed in Duncan. Instead of attacking Gasol, he's either throwing up weak shit or immediately getting rid of the ball, as if he's scared to go at him. Hie used to be brimming with confidence when being guarded by him, because he knew he could overpower him.

Just as disappointed in Ginobili. What is this, the Wizards they're playing? He needs to attack the basket and stop settling for threes or moving the damn ball hoping others pick up the slack. He wants the responsibility of this being his team, then step up against the Lakers.

Phil Jackson's coaching scares me, he's going for the throat tonight..

While he's using his usual strategy against the Spurs, which is for the outside shot to beat them, he's made a point out of running Bonner off the 3-point line and making him beat the Lakers off the dribble..while it has worked so far, it stalls the Spurs offense and forces a bad play, so I wouldn't count on it working consistently..

He is also double teaming Duncan, as usual, but this time, it looks like he's just trying to keep him out of rhythm, since Tim can't make anything..

Good, subtle moves..

DPG21920

ogait
12-28-2010, 09:43 PM
No real surprises in the half. Kobe can get hot but he's not the reason why the Lakers are better than the Spurs. It's those bigs that the Spurs just can't match up with specially with Duncan playing so bad.

NASpurs
12-28-2010, 09:43 PM
@johnhollinger (http://twitter.com/johnhollinger) 44-42 Lakers at half. Duncan 0 points, Manu 2 points. If LA could guard Parker they'd be up double figures.

And if the Spurs could make some more threes, they would have been in double figures. What a dumbass.

Struggling to score against mediocre and good front lines, so it doesn't seem to be a "coasting/disinterested" thing.

He was defended well, but as Sean always says, Timmy has put a little more junk in it, i.e. some more fakes here, an up and under there ... so at least you will get to the free throw line. Currently he backs off and takes contested shots against Gasol and Bynum ...

I think rhythm has a part in it, but like I said a few days ago, I think he's lacking confidence, which is scary..he rushes his shots, he's scared to back down deep, he doesn't try to get position anymore, he can't make jump shots..

TD21 has said before that he thinks Duncan doesn't go into his repertoire during the regular season, due to the wear and tear on the knees, which I agree with, but he's gonna have to, eventually, or this team won't keep it's pace up, in the standings..he needs to change shit up a little..I would like to see him use more fakes, for instance, and more importantly, play aggressive and get deep..

McDyess has been coming into the game during the 2nd half in some of these games, so we'll see tonight..I don't like it, because he's usually lacking rhythm once he gets in, due to sitting on the bench for the entire 1st half..he's obviously the 2nd best big, so he'll be getting more minutes if these teams meet in the playoffs..

Ime shouldn't see ANY time during the 2nd half..

Having Anderson could have been big tonight, Spurs need another shooter right now, since the other options are missing, and they need some athleticism to match the Lakers' wings off the bench(Barnes, Brown)..

Both these teams clearly want the W tonight..Lakers are playing hard and Jackson is bringing out some of the coaching game that he's known for, while the Spurs have come out with some of their best energy in weeks..

Pop needs to challenge Duncan and Ginobili. Fucking man-up.

Big fucking deal if Gasol is longer, Duncan's very long in his own right and stronger. Good as Gasol is, Duncan shouldn't need an ounce of help to guard him and should actually be taking it personally that they're giving him help on him. Bynum, I understand. Like Howard, he has so much more bulk than him. But not Gasol.

And where's McDyess? Why would this ignorant coach think they could beat this team, who they're already at a disadvantage against inside, without their second best big man? They're lucky the Lakers aren't up double digits with all the stupid shit that's gone on.

I'll live with the Spurs missing shots if they play with energy and move the ball. That would be a big improvement over what has been going on lately.
