View Full Version : Kobe's Ego

Serious thread, no troll.

Will this dude's ego allow him to transition into an effective player now that he's clearly on the decline? He's still a pretty crafty player and has pretty good court vision, he's just so reluctant to pass the ball. Scoring and getting his is just way too important to him, pretty sickening to watch tbh. He's already proven that he's arguably the greatest Robin of all-time with his run from 00-03...why is he not willing to attempt to duplicate that by passing the reins to MVPau? Sure its no guarantee that MVPau can guide the Lakers to glory but surely the Lakers have a better shot doing that than they do with Kobe shooting 20+ shots under 40% every night, no ?

Here's hoping a new year opens up Kobe's eyes, for the Lakers sake...winning a title when the Lakers arent relevant just isnt the same tbh :toast

Yet somehow someway this team led by this "Robin" on the decline will win another championship.

Basically if Kobe isn't gifted with going to the free throw line 15+ times a game, the Lakers are shit outta luck.

Please. The guy has been playing the same way for 15 years. He's the most selfish player in the league. I mean, how hard is it to feed the post? He has three dominant bigs who are all very skilled, and are longer than pretty much any other big in the entire league. Yet Bryant has to jack up 27 shots on a night that he clearly doesn't have it. Yet no one is surprised.

Without bailouts by the refs, Bryant is simply a gunner. And believe me, it's going to get uglier and uglier. His teammates have always hated him, and why shouldn't they? He throws them under the bus after the Heat loss on Christmas, then goes out and shoots them out of the game three days later.

The guy is a few months away from being a total joke. And his contract will go down as the worst in history. The fool makes 25+ million this year.

Why happened between Kobe and Hill?

Kobe was telling George to quit calling lakaluva a fag.

Wow some of you are really dumb.

Kobe will be effective for many years to come still because he has many fundamentals that allow him to still be a top player today, even though his athleticism has declined.

If you guys are going to bring up the argument that he isn't effective now because he just chucks up a bunch of shots...then he wasn't effective 10 years ago either. He has always had that problem.

Kobe had many games like this last year too. Its a process he seems to go through every year. I guess he has to relearn his lesson each year. He's to confident in his own abilities that it hurts his teams chances to win and it takes him a while to realize it.

A better question would be "Will he continue to be a sure pick for the All NBA First Team the next few years?"

But will he be effective? Of course he will.

I think the dumb one here is you.

Kobe doesn't have the explosive first step or the explosive hops anymore. Do you honestly believe that Kobe will allow himself to play second fiddle to anyone else on any team he is on?

Although good defensive players, GHill and Manu are hardly all world individual defenders and they made Kobe look average. Kobe fan boys are in complete denial of their basketball demi-god's decline.

Once a chucker always a chucker.

Bean was brutal ...... You have Blair guarding Bynum or Gasol and they don't go into the post. Awful game and dude's ego is a problem.

27 shots

Pau gets 8

nice balance there

Lakers need to make a trade.

Artest for Melo
Fisher for Rose
Kobe for Durant

Do it Mitch!

Bout time some Laker fan actually acknowledges Kobe's chucking and how it hurts the team. Other than here, it's like all of you (lakers fans) are brainwashed, church going 10 year olds that can't think for themselves and/or simply refuse to believe Kobe isn't perfect. Rarely do I ever see laker fans with any constructive criticism of their team...it's just knees on the ground and Kobe is MJ 2.0

Clearly Pau has been damn more efficient this year, get his ass the ball more. If you're off, you should not be taking over 20 shots.

Haha wow. Again let me reiterate, and you can see this in my original post, that his athleticism has declined, but he has managed to be successful the past 3 or 4 seasons in spite of that.

Plus if you knew anything about the Spurs, they might not have great individual perimeter defenders but they play great team defense.

No one with a right mind denies Kobe is on the decline. But there is a major difference between a decline and ineffectiveness. Kobe is still going to be doing a lot for his team.

Now if you are going to bring up the chucker argument he's had that problem his whole career. Its nothing new.

Stop saying "chucker, chucker" and come up with your argument.

Did you watch the Lakers/Spurs game? Kobe kept "chucking" up bricks. Part of being a great player is not trying to go 1 on 5. Theres a time to be selfish, and a time to get your teammates involved. By Kobe throwing up brick after brick, he never took advantage of the Laker's size and ability to score in the paint.

I understand that. What my point is is that this Kobe going 1 on 5 thing is nothing new, in fact, earlier on in his career he did even more.

If people are going to bring up the argument that he's becoming ineffective now, the chucker statement can't be used since Kobe has had that problem since Day 1.

Unless of course someone believes he never was effective. Get my point?

I agree he is not as athletic as he used to be. He can still be the best in the game when he has his head on right though(which we all know is often not the case:lol)

Nah brah, the point isnt that he's a chucker. Its whether he's still good enough to get away with the chucking. Its been a problem his entire career but his athleticism and skill allowed him to get away with it...now theyre both clearly on the decline. The guy isnt Tim Duncan though, getting his points is extremely important to him thats why Im asking if he'll ever be able to hand over the reins. Or will he just continue chucking up as always, except at a much more ineffective rate?

^There ain't nobody to hand the reins over to. That is a sage for Kobe. There ain't a soul on that roster (sans Fisher) that he didn't need to take kickin' & screamin' on to the end of a June. Ipso & facto, he will feel justified to brazen this out. Me? I'll stand with him, however long it takes him, however this ends. Why? A myriad of reason, and I can recite them all to your ad nauseum, but, one comes to mind:::on ring nite he introduced, sponsored Vug, cited his act of Game 7 when he raced & beat Breen to the play-by-play and ended Father of Tard's Celtics, shoved those fucks right into a hole that Artest had just freshly dug with a shovel provided by Bryant.

Hey, and it was,,,,just like that.
