Only once as I can recall...... when the 07 Mavs lost to the Warriors in the first round. I didn't expect that from a team that dominated the playoffs in every phase the prior year then went 67-15 for the #1 seed the following season.

This years Lakers are giving them a run for their money.

So we won an Championship and lost 10 games after that all in the same year. I see that as no big deal. :toast

It's not that bad for the Lakers, I'm sure they'll be fine. After all, Bynum is healthy at the moment, right? Isn't that the guy the Lakers have been just drooling over?

The 2007 Heat were a complete embarrassment.

Started off the year with a 42-point loss to the Bulls.

Ended the year losing their last six, including a first-round sweep to the Bulls.

So were the 2006 Heat, for different reasons...

Yeah, but in that case it was the front office that was the embarrassment.

For the record, the 198-99 Bulls shouldn't even count in this discussion since the whole Jordan-era core left town. It's kinda like if the Bulls went on probation from the NCAA for recruiting violations.

I guess the more appropriate question should be has a 2 time back 2 back defending champ ever looked this bad...now if your team isn't in that category then the whole question should be invalid....the last back to back team in recent memory ohhh that's right...It's the Lakers again...

Of a non-disbanded team, I would say the Miami Heat looked HORRIBLE the year after they won.

Of disbanded teams, the Chicago Bulls were a mess in 98-99...

Nigga, you must not know anything about sports if you think a record of 21-10 is the worst defending champion.

Shit...if you want to troll Lakers fans atleast come up with some good shit.

The Lakers are clearly playing their worst basketball of the Kobe-Pau era. It's not unexpected though, 3 straight Finals appearances + Olympics will take its toll on your star players.

Take the Spurs, for example. Never came close to repeating and needed two god awful seasons to recoop from their '07 run.

As bad as things are, the Lakers are still 21-10. That's not a terrible record by any means and they can certainly turn things around. I'm not going to bet against Phil Jackson and Kobe Bryant, I'm confident they will turn things around soon enough.

Lol. The Kobe-Pau era burning out after 3 deep playoff runs. Duncan-Pop went past the first round 8 straight seasons when the West was actually deep, collecting 4 titles along the way.

Yeah, the Spurs were unable to repeat, but they never had the luxury to play teams like the Thunder (young), Jazz (lol Boozer and Fesenko frontline), Suns (a surprise team that people didn't even expect to make the playoffs last year), and a banged up Celtics squad filled with senior citizens. Suffice it to say, the Lakers last two runs through the West has been cake.

And betting against Kobe is always a safe wager, especially in the Finals. It's his supporting cast that I wouldn't bet against.

You can make the question whatever blows your skirt up and post in in another troll thread.

Defending champ is defending champ, back to back or not. They aren't defending TWO championships, as they already defended one of those successfully.

Damn, Mid is fucking cold-blooded. It's tough to be a Lakers fan these days considering what's going on right now. :lmao:lmao

Trolling aside, it's amazing how the Spurs have been so competitive for such a long time, having been to the Finals three times in the decade.

The Lakers look fucking exhausted. Pau looks like he just wants to go home and take a nap. Kobe on the other hand, still can't accept the fact that he's aging.

2006-2007 Heat have to be one of the worst defending championship teams in NBA history. And let's not forget that the Eastern Conference was a lot shittier back then too. The Lakers have hit a rough stretch but they're still leading their division and let's not forget that they play in the Western Conference.
