View Full Version : Duncan at the line

Duncan has been an inconsistent free-throw shooter throughout his career but is in a good groove right now. He made 10-of-11 foul shots Tuesday and is 32-of-38 in his last three games. In the postseason, he is making 75 percent (90-of-120) from the line after making just 67 percent in the regular season

when he is shooting that well late in the game he needs to attack and not shot a 20 foot fade away jump shot

Thanks, ducks. :rolleyes

Everyone realized this, but NOBODY WAS SAYING ANYTHING FOR A REASON!!!

If TD has a bad FT shooting game tonight, we'll know who to blame.

"he needs to attack"

I watched a bit of that Spurs/Suns playoff game on NBATV yesterday. Wow, Tim was really much faster and more aggressive in the low post than now, some very nice power, spin, up-and-under moves.

His ankles, if not his age, won't allow that in these playoffs.

edit: duh, '93?, it wasn't yesterday, but in some NBATV playoff game recently, Tim was much more than the Tim we see now.

Ugh....didn't someone start a thread similiar to this one before GAME 3 vs. Seattle where we ended up missing like 15 FT's??? :(

Nice one, Ducks. If Spurs FT shooting goes downhill....Shoogar is gonna have to open up a can of "wipe ass" on you :)

When is the last time SPurs have faced a 15 pt blowout at their own home?

Duncan's ankles have slowed him a bit in these playoffs, despite that he still is putting up 24.5 and almost 11.0 a game, his age he just turned 29 he is smack in his prime that is not it it is just the ankles and he is still kicking ass regardless.

I paid attention to that, TD have changed his routine or sth like that? he's been pretty good, so I agreed he needs to attack.

"TD have changed his routine or sth like that?"

He's getting just a little bit more under the ball, and just a little bit more arc, resulting good enough %age not to embarrass himself. Tim couldn't step up his FTs at a better time, every pt counts in the playoffs, GSH be damned, esp FTs.

Phx Game1, Spurs missed 10 FTs (5 missed in the last 40 seconds), won by 7 pts.

Phx Game2, Spurs missed 6 FTs (2 missed in the last 10 seconds), won by 3 pts.

Poor Ducks, if the Spurs shoot poorly from the line tonight and lose a close one, everyone will blame you. :lol

For the record, Duncan was 3 short of the record for most Free Throws made in a Playoff game without a miss. The record of 18 is held by Karl Malone (Utah at L.A. Lakers, May 10, 1997).

Most free throws made, none missed, game
18 — Karl Malone, Utah at LA Lakers, May 10, 1997
17 — Gail Goodrich, Los Angeles at Chicago, March 28, 1971
17 — Bob Love, Chicago at Golden State, April 27, 1975
17 — Reggie Miller, Indiana at New York, April 30, 1993

Actually, apparently NBA.com and a number of other sites I checked are out of date.

Paul Pierce went 21-21 in 2003 against the Pacers.

TD has changed his FT shooting routine. His left foot is farther back than his right foot, and he is taking his time to get himself set up.

According to AP, Duncan's 15 for 15 performance set a franchise playoff record for free throws without a miss, breaking the mark of 13 set by George Gervin in 1980.
