It's not bullshit. It's a good system...and that is why they have divisions.
A few years from now, the NFC West will be competitive again.

More than likely, but the Saints haven't looked all that great lately.

No, you have to division winners make it, but a 7-9 team should never be allowed to host a playoff game. It's just wrong. By any other standard their season was a failure. 7 and fucking 9. Pathetic.

If the Buffalo Bills were in the NFC West they'd be in the playoffs, tbh.

If the saints cant hack it and be a division leader then why would they deserve to host a playoff?

See how wrong this headline reads:
NFC South 2nd placer Saints to host NFC West Champions HAWKS.

Just shows you how bad the NFC West was this year.

Yeah but they get the priority on free agents and drafts so I hope they use it wisely to be competitive again.

When? The NFC West hasn't been competitive in years. When was the last time that division had more than one good team, if that?

That said the system is fine. If New Orleans is better than Seattle they should beat them regardless of the venue.

Cardinals and Niners are good teams. The QB situation doomed them. If they get their QBs in the draft then it will be 2-3 yrs from now but if they get a vet like Mcnabb or even Kolb then it might be as soon as next year.

If the NFL is going to blow up the seeding and qualification system over this one fluke season, then I'm going to be really upset. I think the NFL has the best playoff of any pro sport. Just the right amount of teams make it and if a team pulls a Cinderella and wins the Super Bowl as a 5 or 6 seed, they're still a decent team and not some punk ass lucky team that doesn't deserve to be there.

The NFC West thing is likely to be an isolated incident this season only. A few seasons ago the Chargers won their division at 8-8 and knocked off a 12 win Colts team in the first round. I don't think Seattle will pull that off but record means dog shit right now. Everyone is 0-0 and has a shot at the big game. Except Seattle, Drew Brees is going to tongue kiss their shithole all day long.

haven't looked all that great lately? ... son they won 7 of their last 8 games up until yesterday in a game they didn't even half ass play the starters. they will be fine and play better on the road anyways in my opinion.

I like it.

I'd like it even more if the Seahawks won the whole thing.

Brees is really prone to TOs right now. If he can keep from making these crazy shovel passes then it will be a mismatch. On the other hand, the hawk's 12th man can count on a few false starts.

All I know is that it will be loud at Qwest Field. That place is crazy. The Saints are definitely the better team, but if they start out shaky they could be in trouble.

I love it. Although I don't think the Saints will have much trouble. If Seattle's defense plays as well as they CAN play they might have a chance.

Bucs-Saints or Giants-Saints would be a sick WC matchup. Instead, we're stuck w/ an unwatchable game that will be over by halftime.

Let me say this then....they haven't looked all that great lately compared to the Falcons, Patriots, Ravens, Steelers, & Chiefs (even the Jets). Granted the Steelers & Chiefs won't win the Super Bowl, but neither will the Saints or Seahawks. IMO it's either the Patriots or the Ravens who win on Feb 6th.

Truth. I would go with the three divisions in each conference. SInce this wouldn't divide up equally, the division in each conference with an odd number of teams would have to play some of their divisional opponents three times. Wouldn't be perfect but would be less likely to have some shit 8-8 or 7-9 team in the playoffs.

And as to San Diego doing well as an 8-8 team, they didn't deserve to be there in the first place tbh.

The Saints need to win by 15 TD's to satisfy my appetite.
138-3 should do it.
At least the Saints offense wont make Seattle's defense look like the Baltimore Ravens, like the Rams pathetic O on Sunday nite did.

Fuck Pete Carroll and while i'm at it Fuck Spagnuolo too....for gameplanning 11 carries for SJ39 vs the NFL's 30th ranked rushing defense<<<< = EPIC FAIL

I think the re-seeding of the teams after the season is over is probably the best idea in most of professional sports. Why should a team that has a better record that finishes in 2nd or 3rd be relegated to a lower seed than say, a team that has a less impressive record? I mean, it could all be moot in this instance if the Seahawks have a Cardinal-like run to the NFC Championship game or something like that. But to prevent that from happening; re-seed the whole playoff field. Oh yeah, and don't allow a team with a losing record to host a playoff game. That being said, it would be funny if the Seahawks win at least one playoff game and knock off the defending WC Saints.

But because of this... it wont happen.

I love me some Matty... but he is basically done. Too many times injured he has lost his step.

Seahawks up 11 points in betting. I know Drews good for at least 2 TD's maybe 3. Seahawks D has been good and bad through out the year. Plus Hasselback coming in... who knows how much he can score.

Tough one.

Jay Cutler could throw 5 tds or 5 picks, so anything can happen...
