I'm sure this has been brought up before, and I'm sure it will be brought up again, but the current Playoff Seeding is just wrong.

Let's look at the Lakers:

No matter how bad they do, I have no doubt they will remain at the top of the pathetic division called the Pacific.

I mean, PHX is number TWO, with a 14 - 19 record.

So, as it stands now, the Mavs would be a 4th seed, while the Lakers and Utah, both with worse records, would fill in the number 2 and 3 spot.

Now, I know the counter-argument is: Why does it matter? The best teams will advance.

Yes, true, BUT as a basketball fan it sucks to have to watch the two best teams play in the 2nd round. Every year it seems like the 2 best western conference teams (by record) play in the second round, while a worst team (record wise) awaits them in the Finals.

TL;DR: I wish the playoffs would be from Best to Worst period, not by Best of a sucky Division.

You're wrong. The Division title guarantees one of the top 4 seeds, not the top-3. AND win-loss record determines that 4/5 matchup and who has home-court advantage. I point to the LA Clippers and Denver Nuggets in 2006. The Nuggets won their division and LA had home-court advantage.

Look at the NFL--7-9 Seattle will be hosting a playoff game next weekend. It is like this no matter what.

I must admit that second slot would be sweet for us.

Wrong. Division standing will give you a top 4 spot, but not necessarily a top 3. As it stand now the playoff seeding would look like this:

1. Spurs (lead division)
2. Mavs
3. Lakers (lead division)
4. Jazz (lead division)
5. Thunder
6. Nuggets
7. Hornets
8. Blazers

This seeding is also exactly what it would look like if divisions had nothing to do with it, and it was completely based of record (which for themost part it is.) So i understand how you could be frustrated if the leader of one of the divisions was a sub-500 team, but as it stands the playoff seedings (as of now) look exactly how you would like them to.

3 would not be bad either if form holds ...Obviously it's super early BUT

A nuggs team with no carmelo would be a great first round matchup ...even if they get favors, gallo or Iggy ...a mavs 2nd round series would be tough and JET and dirk are both great players against the Lakers but I like our chances to get to the WCF in 6 games. First round against either the hornets, blazers or Nuggs if healthy and playing at a playoff level of last year we beat those teams in 5 ...
