Agreed...he couldn't possibly improve his stock anymore than it already is. Still, he'll be great when he finally does come out, unlike Leinart and others.

But when you're basically guaranteed to be drafted #1 overall and probably 2 or 3 at the worst, I think you have to go for it if for any other reason than to avoid getting injured the following college season. It's not like he can't take summer classes to finish his architecture degree later on.

With Harbaugh and a good number of his o-linemen leaving, it's not like Stanford will have a shot at the BCS title next year either.

Kids don't go to schools like Stanford to not graduate. I'm surprised because of the other circumstances, but he's a year from graduating from Stanford. Kid probably dreamt of a degree like that more than an NFL career.

While I would never think of any scenario where I would turn down a guaranteed $50 million to play football, this is a different situation than the rest. The guy is a nerd who legitimately loves architecture and just happens to be super talented at football.

Rumors are it could cost him 40-50 million. That's an insane amount of money to walk away from. I just think he's lived for this moment as a nerd more so than an athlete. I'm wondering if the same questions of motivation or "love of the game" will now follow him the way they followed Myron Rolle upon following his dream and taking advantage of the Rhodes Scholarship. I know talent levels are different, but circumstances aren't much different. Rolle's draft stock went from 3/4th round projections to undrafted.

Correction noted. Still, his questioned motivation and one season cost him two or three rounds. Luck will be playing, unlike Rolle, but his passion is now evident: school. Factor this in with a likely diminished product for Stanford next year and he could slip a bit. I'm just curious to see if any of the questions of motivation even get asked in this case because I didn't agree with them being asked of Rolle last year.
