View Full Version : A cause for concern...

Phoenix got into the game by slowing the game down, running half court sets focused on feeding the post, while packing the paint and turning up the physicality significantly (for them) on the defensive end.

In a series in which the Spurs have beaten the Suns at their own open court game I suppose it makes sense that whatever chance the Suns had against the Spurs was to attempt to beat them at their own. But this does show that the Spurs are not going to have as easy a time against a team who can execute that for an entire series, like say a Detroit or a Miami.

This shouldn't come as a surprise, given how a team of comprised of Jesus Shuttlesworth, AD, and an assorted gaggle of frontcourt stiffs pushed the Spurs to 6 and almost 7 games in the last round.

The Spurs generate a lot of offense off of break opportunities. Fortunately when they are forced into a halfcourt game they have Tim Duncan in the post, but still, a team that can play competent defense (like a Detroit) and execute offensively can make things rather tight.
