Book sucks and so did the movie.

They're quite different from each other. I watched first, then read. Oddly, I can visualize the book much better than the movie. The youngster constantly exclaiming "Papa" in the movie grates. But, the reference suits the book. The "wife" though stands out in the movie/when she physically abandoned her family the camera moves/tracks along with her and it's striking that way. She's insignificant in the book.

The author paints some incredible scenes by being brief and stark. His description of the army of survivors traveling in the road is very frightening....slaves in collars pulling the wagon of goods, followed by the pregnant women (in essence the food supply) followed in the rear by the actual food supply of the walking dead. I God's, 4>.
