Coke. Pepsi just tastes like a watered down version of good 'ol coca-cola classic.

Pepsi otherwise; especially throwback.

I truly like pepsi more though. Throwback is amazing, but unfortunately a failed project. I think if somehow, someway, Pepsi made all Pepsi taste like Throwback, then Pepsi would gain mad US market share (relatively)

Yeah I figured you wouldn't know what I meant initially.

I never had throwback.. what was the difference? Real sugar or something?

Cant_Be_Faded
01-10-2011, 01:32 AM
yup. It's what pepsi (and all other colas) used to taste like prior to US government subsidizing local sugar growers and making sugar expensive as a motherfucker in the US.

So US colas use high fructose corn syrup and other varietals for their sweetener.

This is why Mexican Coca Cola rules all too, cuz its made with Cane Sugar.

But if you take a Coca Cola with pure sugar and Pepsi with pure sugar, I still would take the Pepsi. But marginally. They're practically the same when they are unadulterated

Definitely Pepsi; haven't had a Coke in at least 15 years, it's much too medicine tasting. If Pepsi isn't available when I want one, I'll go with water or tea, never Coke.

And in the "white" sodas category: Diet 7up > Sprite Zero - but Sprite Zero is still good; both taste similar to the sugary version IMHO

Where do they sell throwback pepsi? I never even heard they sold that. Maybe that'll change my opinion.

For the past year and a half or so they've been releasing it for a month or two and then taking it off the market for twice that long. In Salt Lake, when it's available, it's sold everywhere. I actually saw some 20 oz. bottles of Mt. Dew Throwback a couple days ago. Not sure if that's old stock or whether it's an indication that Pepsi is putting Throwback products back into the market.

I think, lately, our governments bullshit corn subsidies haven't been keeping the price of real sugar as high as They Want It To Be and hence, PepsiCo, has been able to manufacture Throwback for near or below the cost they produce the corn syrup Pepsi at. I think I read something in some business journal that stated Pepsi has had great sales success with it's Throwback line and has signed an ongoing contract with some cane sugar producer in Idaho, indicating that they'll likely continue to release Throwback every so often in the years to come.

I hope they do. I rarely drink soda, but come Throwback season I increase my consumption and it's always sad to see it disappear from the shelves. I also find the whole concept slightly insulting. Just sell us what we want Pepsi. Don't release some awesome product 'for a limited time' and market it as being superior and expect us to buy the corn syrup shit after the fact. Make the best product you can Pepsi, all the time; don't denigrate your customer base by making them drink 8 months out of the year, what your own company considers to be an inferior product.

I stopped drinking soda over a year ago and I don't miss it at all. Although I do occasionally drink a cup of Mexican Apple Soda like Sidral Mundet if I ever come across.

But when I did drink it I never really saw much of a difference between the two..pepsi was a bit sweeter. I still miss the Crystal Pepsi. I wish they would bring it back.

Pepsi.

They don't taste the same at all. I hate the heavy tasting sludge that is coke. Straight Pepsi is much better, and Wild Cherry Pepsi is one of the best soft drinks to find its way into a bottle, IMO.

If all else fails, though--Dr. Pepper.

Yeah, I love Coke. If I wanted Pepsi, I'll take a Coke, open it up, let it sit for a few hours, then come back and drink it.

If I'm at a restaurant and they don't serve Coke, I get Dr. Pepper. It's funny how the conversation goes in real time.

Waiter: "And to drink?"
Me: "Coke."
Waiter: "Is Pepsi okay?"
Me: (without hesitation for even a split second) "Dr. Pepper then."

I already know because I've been burned before.

Tea is great, but some meals just need a soda to wash it down. Not to mention that sometimes, when I'm drinking tea, I really need to burp and there's no carbonation to help out so it just sits there. I end up having to move around to get the burp to "work its way up".
