I like the coaches being named, but I don't like what will result from the finale; more controversy of who deserves the #1 contender spot for the Heavyweight title.

Dos Santos definitely deserves a shot at Cain before Brock gets a rematch.

Say what they might about Brock's MMA know-how, but he's got some stones stepping in there with such an opponent after such a terrible loss. It'll be an entertaining season, too bad they aren't coaching featherweights tho lol

Exactly and JDS was not that impressive in his last fight. This is a better matchup for Brock to get it down and do damage

We'll see..

What exactly is Brock going to teach them?

What does that mean?

He's a former HW champ with 2 defenses and wins over guys like Randy, Herring, Mir and Carwin

What are you saying he is not qualified? :lol

Bisping coached that show.. :lol

This should be a good show, giving both coaches a great chance to show they deserve a shot at Cain.

What Will Brock Lesnar's Strategy Be?

The first thing that fans need to remember is that while Lesnar may have come to the UFC after a high-profile career as a “sports entertainer,” he also brings a wealth of real wrestling experience, including his national championship at the University of Minnesota, where he won the heavyweight tournament as a senior in 2000. Given that collegiate wrestling has formed the base for many of the UFC’s most successful fighters, from Hall of Famers like Dan Severn, Randy Couture and Matt Hughes all the way through current champions Frankie Edgar and Cain Velazquez, the experience that Lesnar will bring to Season 13 goes far beyond his 5-2 pro MMA record.

The biggest question mark about Lesnar - and the biggest potential weakness for him as a TUF coach – is not his inexperience. It’s his camp.

Lesnar’s DeathClutch camp is built around one man: Brock Lesnar. Marty Morgan is charged with bringing in the coaches and training partners that Lesnar needs to prepare for a given fight. Sometimes it works (Frank Mir, Randy Couture, Shane Carwin) and sometimes it doesn’t (Cain Velazquez). However, preparing one fighter for one fight and adjusting the camp for each new opponent is one thing. A different approach will be needed for a six week camp with seven fighters, all of whom give up nearly 100 pounds to Lesnar.

As an assistant head wrestling coach at the University of Minnesota, Morgan is used to dealing with athletes of all sizes, and was himself an undefeated national champion wrestler at 177 pounds in his senior year of Minnesota. However, the pacing of MMA bouts in the welterweight division tends to be much different than in the heavyweight division, and Season 13 will mark Morgan’s first experience coaching MMA welterweights.

I think he's well qualified. His ground game is pretty much perfect and his striking isn't bad at all. His only problem is shelling up when getting hit (Cain), and that won't hinder his coaching at all.

Like db said, Bisping coached! And I think I can comfortably say that Lesnar is a better striker than Bisping is on the ground

dbreiden83080
04-07-2011, 06:41 PM
TUF to me is usually about the guys in the house and how much they grab your attention. Sometimes we get a great coaching rivalry (Page/Shad) but horrible fights on the show. Kos and GSP was cool and some great fights. Tito and Ken on season 3 was still the best TUF ever IMO.. Tons of heat between them and great fights with guys we related too. We'll see how the fights go here as that will tell the story of this season. Brock and JDS don't hate eachother and JDS honestly is a very quiet and respectful guy.

Brock shit-talks his own team more than he does JDS..:lol

Yea I think right now we are used to guys not gassing after 2 rounds.
This sport evolving. Few years back you had plenty guys that could not keep the pace for 3 rounds.

All training and conditioning went up and the pro's must to step up their training so they could be as effective in the 1st as in 3rd or 5th round.

Mir has fought Brock twice and in spite of the beating he got the 2nd time he is not afraid of Brock. Mir is a nutcase and a great talker. Brock can't stand him so the drama would have been sweet. JDS is higher ranked so the deal was made but it's been bad for ratings.. Brock is not a big talker on his own, he needs someone to get him fired up..

It depends what you call an ugly.

Well Machida has what it takes to violently KO top fighters like Rashad. He just plays chess so much and it pisses people off. Guida has made a career of taking guys down and laying on them. He has great wrestling and cardio, he is a machine with pace but my god, where is the damage? He has horrible GNP, and mediocre submissions. His sub defense is good but only used for escaping and then laying some more. He just does enough to get the judges nod and nothing more.. Pettis did the right thing last night by being hugely aggressive from the bottom because all Guida wanted to do was stay busy enough to not get stood up..

I don't hate Guida but I saw it the same way. A bunch of moving/jumping around and they laying on pettis. I saw very little GnP from Guida, it was more defending constant subs, but the top man always gets the decision for staying on top...
