Yes. No questions. Melo doesn't have to confuse the Wolves by shooting like crap just so he can maybe do something different in the fourth quarter.

He also has no off the court drama like TP which really effects his game.

No. Melo would screw up the chemistry of this team and we'd have no true PG (George is a nice combo guard, not a PG yet, if he will ever be). Also, Melo is not that great a defender. I don't see how Melo fits the Spurs, and we don't need more scoring.

Wanna fight, DPG? :lmao

Yes. Hill is already better than TP, Hill is our future PG so might as well trade Parker now and get younger at that position. Manu is also a better PG than Parker so yah I'd be happy.

Who's gonna be our point guard? George Hill is the one defending the other team's best perimeter player so he's out of the question.

Do you think Melo will stay here for the long haul if he doesn't get his championship right away? Fuck him and his underachieving ass

I saw we trade the big 3, Neal, the AT&T center, Splitter, our next 70 draft picks and everyone else on the team for Melo. Then we see if we can win.

Werdsniper2
01-12-2011, 12:03 AM
To be quite honest, I probably would do the trade in the end.

However.

I am a big proponent of the idea that there are good players who are winners, and then there are just good players.

Tony Parker is a winner, Anthony in a sense, is not.

At least, that's how I see it.

Nah...no thanks. We are just fine at the SF position with RJ and TP is a one man fastbreak and without him the Spurs offense would suffer big time....

People are still convinced that Parker isn't as good as he actually is. TP is a superb point-guard, just because he isn't extraordinary on offense every single game, doesn't mean he isn't one of the most valuable cogs in the Spur's system. He is faster than 3/4 of other point-guards in the league, and has such great court vision.

Don't get me wrong, Melo is a phenomenal player, but him and his thuggish attitude are meant for a team who gives a rat's ass. As for the Spurs, we're completely fine without him, & we're going to rape the team he ends up on anyways.

You don't turn down a chance at a current top ten player, talent wise, even if it leaves you with a gaping hole at point guard. Especially if that player could be a franchise type guy (if he could stop being such a knucklehead).

Tony is the Spurs PG. I want it to stay that way.

The only beef I have with Parker is that he is either a scorer or a facilitator. He cant be both at the same time and sometimes that annoys me because he seems to sometimes picks the wrong time to be either/or.

Look over his career and you will find very few games where he scores 20 and gets 15 assists. It always seems like its Either Tony scores 20 but has 6 assists, or he has 20 assist and scores 8 points.

I dont know, maybe I just demand perfection like Manu does most of the time when he runs the point. :stirpot:

It wouldn't make Spurs a better team, overloading SF position and making empty the PG position.

To complete this trade, it should be Parker+Jeff for Billups+Melo. If you would accept it, then it would be logical.

Wouldn't hesitate. Wouldn't be hard to get another quick pg through the draft.

As long as Manu isn't included, I'm all for it. :spin

With a career high of 15 assists you will obviously not find many games from Parker where he scores 20 and gets 15 assists.
It's no surprise that Parker is not a 15+ assist player.

But over his career (thanks basket reference/game finder):
- He averages 20.7 ppg when he has at least 10 assist.
- He averages 7.5 apg when he scores at least 30 points.

You can't say that he is either a scorer or a passer.
It's the opposite IMO, when he is unstoppable he is finding open shooters very easily.

No. TP has shown this season that he can be a playmaker. Other than his struggles with his jumper, I think he's playing great. I also love the way he's playing defense this season. He's increased his steals and it seems like he tips a lot more balls in the passing lanes than he did in the past. Also, this new uptempo offense wouldn't be the same without him.

I think we win or lose with TP as our point guard. If he could only improve his three point shot, he would be the best point guard in the league. I am still waiting for that day.

no i wouldn't. Melo is one of the most overrated players in the league. He doesn't make his teammates better. He's a scorer. that's all he can do, and that's how he going to impact a game. i'd much rather have Parkers 18 ppg and 7 assists a game to Carmelo's 25 and 3 assists.

And can you imagine having George Hill, RJ, and Anthony all playing big minutes for this team. that's one of the worse passing teams in the league for you. GHill and Melo in the starting lineup...ugh.

Melo is leaving for nothing at the end of the year.

Trying to trade Tp for a superstar or another allstar is a horrible idea, unless its maybe.....Cp3 or Deron Williams. But Tp's best asset is his scoring (at the rim especially) and being able to do so at a high fg%. Take away his scoring he is not worth a 4yr $50million contract.

The Spurs have plenty of guys that can score ( break down defenses like Tp, definitely not). So if you trade him, you wanna make sure to get 2-3 solid role players that fill holes. 1 - a SF (wing defender) 2 - a PF/C (combination of height and mobility) 3 - a PG (simply a facilitator and spot up shooter).
