View Full Version : What movies were so terrible that you walked out of the theater?

DeadlyDynasty

I'm a big movie buff (like a lot of people here) so it takes a lot to make me wanna walk out on a film. That being said, of the ones I can remember...

-Godzilla (2000)
-The Postman (worst POS I've ever seen in my life, I couldn't make it through the whole 3+ hours)
-Blade 2
-Sahara

I'm sure there's more, but those trainwrecks really stand out...

I don't think I've ever left during a movie, but I did sleep through the majority of Quantum of Solace in theater. I was pumped to see it too because I'm sort of a fan of the Bond series and really enjoyed Casino Royale, but man was that movie fuckin terrible.

I hated that b/c I had to piss but didn't wanna miss the ending...little did I know the movie would end another 45 minutes later. I feel like I've had weak stream ever since, but don't have the heart to sue Peter Jackson.

Your sense of humor blows, that movie was great.

I've never walked out of a movie in the theater and I find people that do to be way more judgmental of films than they need to be. I pay for a movie ticket to spend 90 minutes to two hours entertained by a story, not to go in there and critique the filmmakers and cast. Assholes are paid good money by newspapers and other online or print establishments to watch movies with a stick up their ass. No need for me to watch them that way too. When a movie is put together well with a good cast, director and production values that's just a bonus.

I've never walked out as I wanted to get my money's worth. I don't like to ask for money back on movies.

I almost walked out of A.I. Worst movie I have ever seen. Theater was dead so my ex and I just did it in the back, so I guess it worked out.

Some of you have some god awful taste in movies. Pirates of the Carribbean 3 the worst movie ever made? Really? Out of all the movies in existence you pick that? There's probably five movies that came out in the past year that are worse than that movie.

I've only walked out of one movie in my life and that was 8MM with Nicolas Cage...but I just snuck into Saving Private Ryan instead.

Only movies I've actually walked out on were Maximum Risk, the forgotten 1996 stinker with Jean Claude Van Damme and Natasha Henstrige, and the Fiennes/Thurman Avengers. Had I not been tricked, dragged, or otherwise bribed into seeing them and with people who were somehow actually enjoying themselves, odds are I wouldn't have stayed for all of Ghost Rider, or either of the National Treasure movies.

And then there's Titanic, which I actually saw twice in theaters even though I hated it. First time I saw it was purely out of curiosity (knew damn well going in I wouldn't like it) and I forced myself to stay through the whole thing. Second time was because my girlfriend also wanted to see what the fuss was about. She was not as determined to sit through the whole thing, however, and we probably would have walked out if not for the empty theater naughty time.

Despite all the movies I see in a given year, and how many of them have sucked, I very rarely consider walking out or turning them off early; once I dedicate five or ten minutes to a narrative, I usually feel compelled to finish it.

How anyone can think Pirates of the Carribean 3 isn't one of the worst turds ever put out baffles me. It's long, the pirates look like drag queens, the marriage in the middle of the huge swordfight, the shitty costumes, the length, etc. Disney is crap if it's not animated.

I thought Blade 2 was good. I think ALVAREZ said it right, when he was wondering why you people had certain expectations for certain movies you paid money to see.
I went to see Blade 2 cuz Wesley Snipes is a bad ass Blade, and wanted to see him fuck up some vampires. Then on top of that you had Ron Perlman as a vampire bad ass, and Luke Goss as Nomak. Then to top it off, Guillermo del Toro was directing.
I thought for its time the fight scenes were great, the initial scene was action packed and sucked you into the movie, plus that vampire princess was hot as fuck. The idea of a reaper was pretty cool too.
Blade Trinity was the movie I would have walked out on, had I paid actual money to see it in theaters.

I never walked out of the movie theater per se, but I was the one who volunteered to get soda and popcorn many times in Dumb and Dumberer. It was by far the most disappointing and worst movie I have ever seen. I was with few of my friends and I told him that I was gonna brb because I need to use the restroom. I did this like 4 or 5 times. Yeah, I need excuses to get out of that movie. :lol

As far as actually walking out I've only done it twice and both were kid's movies: Pokemon and SharkBoy and LavaGirl. My kids were pretty young and ordinarily I would NEVER let them out of my sight, but it was less risky than the scene I would have caused screaming and ripping my hair out.

I only walked out once.

When we were in high school, mardigan (former Spurstalk regular) and I took a couple of girls to go see 6 Days and 7 Nights. During the movie, mardigan starts playing double bass beats with his feet on of one of those rails behind the handicapped section where there's no seats. Being the goliath that he is, he actually kicks the entire rail out of the ground and it comes crashing down loudly on the cement, during a completely quiet part of the movie. With the attention of the entire theater on us at that point, mardigan casually picks up this huge piece of rail, places it against the wall and we all proceed to walk out. The movie was absolute shit so it all worked out for the best.

What's so funny about that, is I remember reading in GamePro that the director said something along the lines of, "You see too many movies about a fighting ring where the hero has to infiltrate it, and we're not going to do that."

Uhm... HELLO? That's pretty much what Street Fighter was all about! Way to ditch your source material jerkwad.

I never walked out of the movie theater per se, but I was the one who volunteered to get soda and popcorn many times in Dumb and Dumberer. It was by far the most disappointing and worst movie I have ever seen.
Just scrolling down the page skimming some posts I thought you were speaking about the original, until I saw the extra "er" afterwards. I was going to say you're damn nuts...but yes, this fucking movie was such a disappointment compared to Dumb and Dumber. The original is probably my all-time favorite comedy movie, or certainly top 5. Has a lot of sentimental value and it's definitely a classic, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are hilarious in that movie.

I don't know how anyone who saw the previews thought this movie wasn't going to be a steaming pile of turd. Call me silly but I can watch the trailer for a movie and know if it's gonna be crap or not. Most films that come out nowadays are just about trying to make money. My dumbass cousin always sends me texts about movies he sees that are stupid, and I'm like how could you not tell that within the first ten seconds of the trailer?

The Green Hornet was one of the worst movies in the last 10 years IMHO. Seth Rogan was wrong, wrong, and wrong for the part! The movie was just playing stupid and had no substance to it. If people go to a movie to see things crash and blow up for no reason, then they'll enjoy the movie. The only funny part of the movie was the gas gun scene and the BEST PART of the movie? The END..when we got up to leave!!

I FELT like walking out of these movies but I couldn't because I was with my family, if it wasn't for them I'd have gone home:

-You don't mess with the Zohan (Absolutely TERRIBLE!)
-Get him to the Greek. I laughed maybe once or twice, other than that this movie fucken sucked, I kept waiting for something funny to happen but that moment never came.

Now I just wait to see the rating on IMDB, if it's around 7.0 and above I'll go see it.

I ALWAYS wait around a week after the movie is released to go see it, I don't have to deal with all the traffic or a crowded theater plus I won't waste my money on a crappy movie after seeing the rating on IMDB.

I never saw BHC. That was a overly blatant and hypothetical example.

As I mentioned earlier, I did walk out of Alexander. There was nothing previous to my seeing it that would have indicated it was so bad a film as to not be worth my time.
