Invest in a PC.

Seriously. The flexibility of a PC makes it such a capable gaming system.

To say nothing of the ability to get a nice gaming laptop and literally game from anywhere.

PS3 is worth the money if you enjoy quality gaming.

Ok, is it just me, or is the blu-ray drive's capabilities severely lacking when watching them on your monitor? I have a 32" LG screen and a Samsung BD on my PC, and the picture always seems jerky. I thought it might have something to do w/ the smaller HDMI cable going from the drive to the screen, but I really dunno...

If I was as into gaming now as I was two years ago I'd buy a ps3 in addition to 360. You'd basically be paying a lot of money for a blu-ray player and a meager handful of really worthy exclusives (mainly Demon's Souls, the Uncharted games and GT5 if you're a sterile gear head) but fuck it, could be money well spent.

Well, because it plugs into my computer, it seems to be of the mini-HDMI variety.

But add in the video card upgrade and the savings are gone. I'd say get a PS3 if you want to game with friends.

Gaming on a PC defeats the purpose for me because I want to game to pass the time as well as play with my friends. My friends don't play on PC.

Get the PS3.... it's only a matter of time before you get away with downloading all of the games anyway, so you get more than what you pay for..

If you have a 360 really doesn't make much sense to go get a PS3 because you're bored with it. If you're bored with the 360 you'll be bored with the PS3. They're pretty much the same damn thing with the exception of a few titles here and there.

32" the main display? I'd make sure you have the latest drivers, that card should easily be able to handle it.

Now that we're on the topic of PS3s, anyone with one jailbreak it yet? I've only installed FTP server so I can access the internal HD from my laptop to add custom save game files.

I think XBOX has similar capability but I use the PS3 media server more than anything else with the PS3 media server app. Let's me stream through my wireless network directly from the media external hard drives on my pc.

It's a lot less headache than burning movies and music to disk like I had to do before.

PS3 isn't worth it if you have a 360. The PS3 exclusives are lacking. You should get a Bluray player if you don't have one though.

so the ps3 has playback ability allows to play ps1-2 games...lol the question is nobody owns original ps2 games anymore cause of the modchip...makes no sense on a ps3 since no modchip

so what happens if i upgrade the hdd on the ps3 brick, will it also support playback?

All PS3's are backwards compatible with original Playstation games, whether the PS3 is slim or the fat style. Only a couple of versions of the older fat PS3's are compatible with PS2 games. Upgrading the HDD won't effect backwards compatibility.
