View Full Version : Since we are the new Suns, what would you consider a EPIC failure?

not winning it all will be a failure, but I am talking about an EPIC failure for a team that could win 65+ games...

IMO not getting to the finals. I doubt this new Suns could win it all playing like this, but should get to the Finals at least.

A 2nd round exit wouldn't be a huge surprise, but with the pieces and the talent this team has put together, at this point I will be greatly disappointed if they don't at least do better than last season's team.

The Spurs have had a great season, but it will inevitably end in the WCF...coming off the last two years and heading into this year, I think any Spurfan would be pleased with that.

Any thread or post calling the Spurs the "new Suns" is full of fail from the get go.

You're ultra-late in jumping on the calling-me-a-nazi bandwagon.

Who said anything about nazis?
Confession is good for you

We are not the "new Suns" as the Spurs are still a top tier team defensively albeit with a slightly faster pace the comparisons are otherwise not valid. The Suns had a different philosophy which included rapid shots running the break from the 3 points line and had never had the core having played the quality of the defense the Spurs big three's championship teams have had. Don't listen the diatribes - just because the Spurs are offensively highly efficient and shoot a lot of threes they play a style more like the Magic attempt to do.

Apparently not . . .

And by the way, it's much better for a white daughter to bring home a black dude than if a white guy were to bring home a black woman. That's just plain disgusting. The other way doesn't really matter much to me.

Weird take.

Epic failure would be if we traded the farm for Lebron and Bosh and still didn't get far. 65 wins with the squad we have would be pretty damn good in anyone's book but yours I suppose.

Total B.S. about the inevitably crap - sure the LAL are a formidable defending champion but LAL barely got to the WCF last year without a last minute put back by Gasol saving Kobe's or Mr. 6 for 24 ass. This year both the Mavs and Spurs present all kinds of potential match up issues with the LAL that go both ways so bring it on all the Lakers homers, if an when the LAL survive to face to the Spurs who as the number one seed will have the easier road.:flag:

The 2009-2010 Suns were #1 in offense and #23 in defense.

The Spurs are #2 in offense and #8 in defense so far this season. The Spurs still make stops when they need to, hence the 33:6 record. Knowing Pop teams, the defense will be elite at the end of the season.

The last Spurs championship team (2006-2007) was # 5 in offense and #2 in defense. A good balance is always needed.

The Lakers are #1 in offense this season, #10 in defense. The Celtics are #10 in offense and #2 in defense. The Heat is #4 in offense, #3 in defense.

An Epic failure would be to lose to an 8th seed.

epic fail is losing to a horrible seed, like 1st seed vs 8th seed

On a serious note, if they lose to the team that goes to the Finals or wins the championship, I won't view it as a fail at all. Expectations going into the season were (for me, anyway) that they were second-tier of the elite. A contender but not a favorite, the likes of an LA or Boston.

Had the Spurs made a trade or had Splitter or Anderson become big-time contributors for the team, my outlook could have changed. But this team is exactly who I believed them to be if healthy, they've just happened to take care of their regular season business and take advantage of all the good fortune they've had thus far . . .
