Never thought I'd say this, but that sucks.

We need Anderson back now, and soon.

Tiago played well in the last Denver game, 12/9 in 21 minutes. He's definitely familiar with Nene.

I think Tiago will definitely get some minutes against Denver. McDyess is due a shortened game, since Pop wants to keep him fresh

Now is the time for Splitter to try to prove he is a 3 point chunker like he did that one game awhile back. :lol

Knees are the weakest link for a basketball player. Being cautious is certainly the right thing to do.

I hope Splitter will take that opportunity to prove what he is worth. He is a way better player than what he showed against Mavs.

But doesn't it seem like some people here feel that Splitter is a really good player who's play doesn't reflect that? Isn't that also self contradicting?

I think that most people are coming around to the fact that Splitter is a role player whose ceiling will be to provide 15-20 minutes of solid play and prevent the Gasols of the world from killing the Spurs while Duncan is on the bench.

There may be a few more delusional folks out there, but they are definitely in the minority.

So if that means Pop's putting him on the injured list...we're only going to have 10 healthy players counting Tiago and Chris Quinn for the next 5 games at least. Shit...

This is going to be a make or break game for Tiago as far as how his minutes will come for the rest of the season. He must stay out of foul trouble/hold his position on D and go strong to the basket/get to the foul line on the other end. He can't be concerned with replacing Bonner's scoring (let's face it, Rocket's been a beast lately). RJ, Hill and Neal will have to pick up the slack there.
This is a huge opportunity for Splitter and he has got to show the team he can be a solid, dependable contributor. There are definitely trust issues with Pop and his teammates that he can only repair with how well he performs on the floor. It's time for everyone to see what we've been waiting for.

I can count to 10. Why would Bonner be out 5 games? So far, all we know is that he'll miss the Denver game.

NBA rules. You're on the injured list (a.k.a. inactive roster, disabled list), you must miss >~5 games.

No such rule.

LOL, and like clockwork he will. He is a great early season shooter as always, then in the end he shoots about 30% or so for threes in the playoffs or maybe even less. Playoffs come, he starts to fade like clockwork.

Watch and see how hard it is for the Spurs to score in the paint tomorrow. Bonner is the can opener for the offense. If we're not running effectively, we could easily lose.

Without Matt Bonner the Spurs are forced to play small ball a ton so we always have at least 3 three point shooters and one playmaker on the floor with a big man.

Playing Bonner = playing small. Haven't figured that one out yet?

Well they won big without Bonner.....

DPG21920
01-17-2011, 12:14 AM
Not only did they win big. They won on both sides of the ball against a team with a lot of fire power that was playing pretty well as of late.

DMC
01-17-2011, 12:15 AM
The Spurs hit 14 in a row, but that would mean little if they weren't shutting down the Nuggets' offense at the same time. They went from 12 down to about that much up in a short time. Huge swing and that was the game.

Those 3s in the end were helpful, but Denver really turned on the offense in the last minutes of the game. Good that the Spurs held on.

Matt is a big part of the team, but if we cannot win without him, we are really fucked.

Popovich would not rule out forward-center Matt Bonner for Wednesday.

Bonner, No. 2 in the NBA in 3-point accuracy (60 for 119), suffered a bone bruise in his right knee in the Spurs’ victory in Milwaukee on Jan. 12. Though he played the first half of the game against Dallas on Friday, he sat out Sunday against the Nuggets.

“It’s just a day-to-day thing,” Popovich said. “We’ll see how he feels today and how he feels on Wednesday.”
