View Full Version : Who Holds the Honor as The Last NBA Champion - HOF'er To Be Swept

Let me just start by saying I don't know who it is at this point but as we go on this Easter egg hunt of sorts, to find out, I know you will agree that whomever it ends up being is one lame and sorry ass son of a bitch. It's a distinction that no player should ever have to suffer through.

Was it Shaq? - No
How About Boston's Big 3? - Nada
How about MJ and Pippen - Negative
What about Kobe Fucking Bryant - Fuck Nope

That only leaves on player that hasn't been mentioned yet.

Timmy Duncan holds the clear distinction as the last NBA champ to have been swept. In fact I don't think it's ever happened in NBA history. Most former champs never allow themselves to be swept.

Congrats to Tim Duncan. Please add this one to his trophy case as you compare his awards to Kobe's. :lol

when trying to disprove a theory one should be as precise and concise as possible. The original question stands and Tim is still the last Champ to have been swept. Go check the records my son. Now if you're implying it has happened before in NBA history then be through when explaining yourself this should have been taught at home.

I said future HOF'er. He will get in he barely deserves that much. However, the reality is that Kobe is already in the HOF even as he plays. Google Kobe's shoes from the 81 point game. Those are already on display at the HOF museum and I might add, that's also another distinction that Kobe holds over Timmy D and many other players as well. He's already in the HOF in a sense which makes him a true living legend. :lol

Who holds the honor of a virtual 5 game sweep loss, despite being heavy, heavy favorites PLUS once led a Phil Jackson coached team from up 3-1 to out of the playoffs?

That's honors right there.

Bitch all you want...but facts is facts.

Detroit and Phoenix once laughed hard core at your expense. Add the Celtic beatdown that amounted to the worst Finals Loss In History and what you have left is a guy who bought a huge ring at Zales to say I'm sorry for raping that girl and for having to settle out of court by buying the same girl a house.

Which would mean they have been in the rarified air more than anyone. I can accept the 2nd place finishes. It made the franchise tougher. I see no shame in being in the hunt more than any other team. Where did you say future Hall of Famer? Timmy is considered the greatest power forward to have ever played the game. Kobe isn't even no. 1 at his position (See Micheal Jordan). They have also lost more championships than any other team in any sport going back to the Roman days and including the christians verses the lions.

This argument has fail written all over it. According to this logic, you penalize a team for advancing to the finals. Yet how can you hope to win a championship if you don't make it to the final dance?

Let's take the 4 teams with the most titles, they all started the NBA in different seasons.

Celtics
Champions 17/64 seasons
Finals 21/64 seasons
Made playoffs 48/64 seasons

Lakers
Champions 16/62 seasons
Finals 31/62 seasons
Made playoffs 57/62 seasons

Bulls
Champions 6/44 seasons
Finals 6/44 seasons
Made playoffs 29/44 seasons

Spurs
Champions 4/34 seasons
Finals 4/34 seasons
Made playoffs 30/34 seasons.

Celtics have 4 finals losses, Spurs and Bulls none. Most of their non-title teams weren't good enough to get to the finals, let alone win them. Suppose the Lakers missed the playoffs the 15 seasons they lost the finals. Their finals record would be 16-0, which is quite misleading; they would be a much worse franchise at 16-0 than with the real 16-15.

with no statistical overview or key, we're supposed to decode this fucking math as the truth. Who's numbers are what?

Let's put this in Black & White so punk ass bitch LAL ejaculates can see it and hopefully stop slobbing each other to recognize the facts:

Tim Duncan, the backbone of the Spurs dynasty, is third among active NBA players with a .694 winning percentage.

His regular season record is 716-296 (.708) and his playoff record is 105-65 (.618)

Kobe Bryant is fifth among current NBA players, winning 65.8 percent of the games he has played in.

His regular season record is 701-356 (.663) and his postseason record is (126-72)(.636).

It is not surprising to find the best basketball player of the last decade high up on this list.

I don't know Ejaculates, which is higher? 3rd or 5th? Clue...you get no medal for 5th. Can it get any simpler than that? :lmao :lmao :lmao

Was just a simple question. No reason to get all bent out of shape. I would think most people would choose the higher % if it's a deserible topic.

titles/years
4/13 = .3076 (Tim)
5/14 = .3571 (Kobe)

There is only one ultimate goal and that is to hold the trophy directly after the last game of the NBA season. Anything else is just fluff. So congrats on the 3rd over 5th place finish in what stat was that? Oh yeah, win %. I'll take the trophies! :toast

I agree. At the end of the season, Tim's held 7 trophies over his head.
4 Titles and 3 Finals MVP.

Bean's Held 7 as well. 5 Titles and 2 Finals MVP. But seriously, if it was any other player that went 6-24 in a game 7 plus Artest being the best player that day, I can see why the NBA didn't go anywhere else.

7=7 There is no way to slice it but really, the argument could be made that the lst Finals MVP wasn't really the MVP. Again, he was just the most likely candidate despite his horrendous performance which almost cost the LAL the game.

In essence, they settled on an MVP whereas Duncan's been the anchor the entire time and while 05 was good enough for a Co-MVP in Manu, no one disputes who's the man during Tim's term. Should the Spurs win one for the thumb this season, the MVP could go elsewhere but everyone knows that the foundation that Duncan provides is very key indeed.

Last I looked the MVP was for the "finals" as in series not simply the last game. Nobody disputes who the man on the Lakers is either. Not a single player on the Lakers. Not any other players in the league. Just the haters.

Are you now denying that Tim is deferring to Manu? Thats my point exactly. You can have all the stats and advanced stats. Add to that all your MVP "votes" I don't care. Timmy is a huge part of the Spurs. A vital cog. So is Manu and Tony. You guys win the title and I dont distinguish between key players. Timmy doesnt lose credit cause he was 1b to Manu's 1a or vice versa. It's rubbish.

...and as I have stated many times, I could care less about MVP's and other awards. Especially "voted" awards.

It's all about the LOB's

Now if you're implying it has happened before in NBA history then be through when explaining yourself this should have been taught at home.

That is where you yourself are wrong. The initial question says "the last NBA champion - HOF'er" and not simply NBA Champion. While Duncan is undoubtedly a surefire first ballot HOF'er, he isn't one yet.

If you want to play semantics you'll just lose troll.

The thread is an EPIC FAIL. Duncan is one of the best to ever play. Kobe is one of the best to ever play. Who gives a rat's a$$ about what some 26 post clown thinks?

^Where the two go their separate ways is in Kobe's ability to repeat, not once, not twice, but, three times.

Duncan? Uh, uh.

lol @ Gasol being the "new guy" when he saved Kobe's ass both times around

Giuseppe
