Yeah. I expect a lot from those 2, and that just wasn't funny.

Jemaine was prolly the best part...and even HE was a tad obnoxious.

Just watched this the other night. Definitely one of those films that goes in the "unmaximized potential" catagory. The writing absolutely destroyed it.

Good. I can strike this from my list.

Excruxiating to watch in places. It made me squirm a couple of times, simply due to the really awkward situations that the characters were put in.

I liked it, but don't think I could really recommend it freely.

If you like off the wall stuff, (farce is probably the best term) then see it. Definitely not for everyone.

RandomGuy...well said.

The really sad thing is that most of the characters were great. This film could have been funny as hell if it had been better written and better executed.

.................X2.

It just seemed like a film about picking on losers like Phillip or something. Entertaining in a weird way, yet not funny at all. :depressed

yeah, bad movie. I couldn't even make to the dinner scene before I had to just eject.

departed–verb (used without object)
1. to go away; leave: She departed from Paris today.

Somewhere I read a "Top 10 List of Most Wasted Talent in 2010 Films" and Jemaine Clement ranked towards the top. Shame.

:lol

I dunno. I think his strong Kiwi accent makes his awkward mannerisms even funnier.

But nobody could've saved THAT trainwreck...

Admittedly, it's a tad nit-picky, but still...

Unless your wife did IN FACT bring two halves of the room back together, in which case...:wow

That was a decently funny film. Saw it... eh, five or six years ago, maybe. When the previews for Dinner for Schmucks came out, I knew that yet again something good was about to be destroyed in the name of American "comedy".

Death at a Funeral is another example of this idiocy.

Speaking of American remakes, did anyone see "Let the Right One In"? I saw the original foreign film, and I liked it quite a bit. Did they dumb down the American version?

Le dinner de con was pretty funny. I knew this Smuck remake would suck. Same goes with the original Taxi movie, which was a good comedy , and queen Latifa et al, made a crappy remake out of it. Sigh....

Terrible movie. But could be one of the ones you watch on TV over and over and then you like it.

Actually, no. It just sucks. This is not a "Dude Where's My Car" type movie like I described above.

Me Myself & Irene was like that.

Le Diner des Cons was hilarious. Dinner For Schmucks played out like a bad Simpsons episode with all the complete off the wall antics.
