Cavs will reportedly name Mike Brown their new head coach
Akron, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly decided to hire Indiana Pacers assistant Mike Brown as their next head coach.

According to the Akron Beacon Journal, the Cavs and Brown were already in contract talks and an official announcement could come at some point this week. He is expected to get a three- or four-year deal worth about $2-to-$3 million per season.

Brown, who interviewed with Cleveland last week in Detroit, is known for his attention to defense, which is a top priority to Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert. It is believed that he beat out Memphis Grizzlies assistant Eric Musselman for the job.

"He's a good X and O coach, but he's a good people person, too," Cavaliers guard Ira Newble, who was with Mike Brown in 2000-01 when both were in San Antonio, told the paper. "He's a good man, and he knows the game. He knows how to coach. If you look around the league, defense wins championships and Mike knows defense."

At 35, Brown, who won a ring as an assistant with the Spurs in 2003, would become the second-youngest head coach in the NBA. He served as Indiana head coach Rick Carlisle's top assistant the last two years.

"If he does get the job, it reflects not only the job he has done for us, but also, how much he's respected around the league," Carlisle told the Indianapolis Star. "Based on the past three years, he showed he's ready to become a head coach."

The report also stated that the team is prepared to offer its president of basketball operations position to Detroit Pistons head coach Larry Brown at the conclusion of the Pistons' playoff run.

That's awesome for him. He deserves it. Hopefully him and LeBron have a long, successful career together.

I almost knew he will be the head coach this year. Congratulations.

and full of "solidly Republican" dumbshits who are probably STILL wearing contrast-stitched polyester leisure suits ("wrinkle-free", like their brains), white shoes, white belts, white ties, dark shirts, with the shirt cuffs AND coat-sleeves turned up, aka "full Cleveland". :lol
