And this goes out to anyone else who sees Mav games reguarly.

It's not like Mav teams have been known for their suffocating D, but this year Tyson Chandler seems to have turned the team around. What I'm wondering is, how good is he on defense? For instance, if you had to list the following players:

Bynum, Perkins, Nene, Noah, Wallace, Bogut etc etc

Where would you guys slot Chandler? Just curious. (Remember, only talking about defensive ability, not offensive.) If you want to compare him to non-centers (ie. Garnett) feel free.

He's special when healthy. When healthy for the Hornets, they were tough to beat. Without him, they became soft until this season.

He's special.

He alone takes the defense to another level. He is active, fast and covers a lot of errors of team mates.

Thunder dropped a huge one declining the trade back in 2009. Sure they would have paid him 1.5 years for being injured but imagine him added to their young core. He is exactly the center they are missing at defense.

Offense...there you can put several other center over him but he is still an awesome total package.

Ah and no way Cuban let him walk next season.

Hornets would have had so much cap room with that trade as well

What the hell is wrong with Cole Aldrich? Hornets drafted him at number 12 and traded him to OKC on draft night. Why isn't he getting minutes?

He took mavs from a shitty defensive team to a pretty damn good one.

He's candidate for DPOY IMO

As far as versatility, Garnett is probably the only other defender that has more impact than Chandler..when you combine the ability to defend the p&r, hedge out on perimeter players, man defense, and overall rotations, KG is probably the only other guy that can do what Chandler does for Dallas' D..

As far as statistically, there have been a handful of players that have been as or almost as valuable to their teams this season..Josh Smith, KG, Lebron, Bogut, Howard, Duncan..Chandler has been as good or better than all of them, except for KG and Bogut, maybe Lebron..

just remember the strong opprobrium from some picklebreaths on TC's arrival. they never thought wife plower would do so much good for this team tbh.

+1

He covered up David West's mistakes and made the Hornets a good defensive team.

I think he's very good. I don't know about great. He's definitely leaps and bounds of improvement over a guy like Dampier or even that pansy ass Haywood.
