Make an appointment. The nerds that work there frown upon walk-ins.

Man, if I were you I'd fix it myself. All those movable parts are replaceable and if you are the tiniest bit mechanically inclined, you could do it yourself. I replaced the battery on my iPhone and the battery cost me $9. There are tons of instructional vids online. That's my recommendation. Good luck.

I may try that. I have a spare iTouch, but the one I want to get fixed is my favorite. I found the home button for six dollars online.

if it's still under warranty and not damaged it's pretty easy to swap at the store.

Had the OP stated that, I wouldve said that same thing.

I replaced my whole screen just from watching a youtube video only cost me 12$ whereas it would have been 100$ at an apple store.

SA DAVE

Yeah it's not under warranty. The cost of fixing the home button at Apple, I'm sure, will be about 65 percent of the cost of a new iTouch. But, I think I'm gonna brave it up like Viva and follow his advice.

Yeah my iPod Touch button got stuck a couple of months ago...tried cracking it open...felt like I was gonna break the damn thing...would be nice if someone other than the damned (expensive) Apple store could fix this thing...

i'll see your tbh, and raise you another tbh, and politely proclaim that i'm ok at fixing things and reading manuals. but if i can find an ipod repairer for a cheap price and is good at doing his or her job, then i'll spend the sum and save any potentially lost opportunity costs on my behalf - like time.

The greatest thing I found on Craigslist was a guy who was advertising that he would root your device for between 20 and 50 dollars (depending on the device). Rooting takes about 5 mins of actual work (not the waiting portion) on some of the more complicated devices. LOL

I thought "Rooting" was used for Android phones...and for Apple it's "Jailbreaking"...

You are correct, but I was referring to the portion of the conversation about doing it yourself vs paying someone to do it. Sorry, I realize that I can sometimes have an issue with loose association.
