I don't really care. The ASG is just a party and showcase. It has nothing to do with anything real. I'd be happy if the Spurs had zero players there. Unfortunately Popovich has to coach. That should be interesting.

Same here. I'd prefer it if none of the Spurs player went.

These guys arent machines. They may not be as media and praise hungry as other players but at the end of the day they want to be recognized. They deserve the acknowledgment and praise of an allstar selection. Why do you think they keep Duncan as PF and the ballots, if Pop or Duncan really didnt care they wouldnt complain about Duncan being listed as a C.

Besides Pop is the coach, he isnt going to overplay those guys anyways.

Exactly. With Pop as coach, I'd want as many spurs players on the all star team as possible for recognition purposes. None of them are going to be overplayed. I don't know why people are still bringing that up. Pop is not retarded.

I expect nothing less from a guy that gave us this eloquent masterpiece:

Deserve's got nothing to do with it. How does a person earn the right to be popular?

Lebron and Ginobili are a lock, imo

Popular amongst the fans? That only partially matters in this thread because you can make the team without being voted in by the fans. Since were talking about whether or not the Spurs deserves 3 allstars, I dont think popularity amongst the fans are as important. There are 7 spots, 2 guards 2 forwards 1 center and 2 wild cards on the bench. There are plenty of chances for the big 3 to make it and "deserving" will play a big role when the coaches decide on the bench.

I would prefer no Spur go to the allstar game. We can use the rest and the diss would actually help to keep the team focus on their team play.

A CASE FOR TIM: With Tim Duncan lagging behind four other Western Conference forwards in the fan All-Star balloting, it’s become clear he’s probably going to need help from the coaches, who select the reserves, if he is to make his 13th consecutive team.

Without tipping his hand, and while also stumping for his own big man, New Orleans coach Monty Williams said Duncan deserves strong consideration.

“With his numbers being down, he still has an impact on the game,” said Williams, who played with Duncan in 1997-98. “You still have to double-team him every night. He’s the best power forward in the history of the game, so it’s hard to keep him off the team.”

Williams said he thinks Hornets center Emeka Okafor also deserves a spot. With apologies to the Clippers’ Blake Griffin and Minnesota’s Kevin Love, two young big men who have made statistical cases for All-Star candidacy, Williams said his votes will likely be skewed toward players on winning teams.

Given the Spurs’ NBA-leading record, Williams would not have a problem if they have three representatives — presumably Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili — in Los Angeles on Feb. 20.

“When you have a record like that, it’s easy to put three guys on it,” Williams said.

Detroit sent 4 players the year after they won their championship largely based on them having far and away the league best record. Rip, Chauncey, Rasheed and Big Ben.

manu is a lock. dont know about duncan. the many fowards that can replace duncan so i think it could be tough and i dont think he should make it. for pg's same problem. i wouldnt put parker ahead of paul, williams, or westbrook. thats 3 pg right there that have his spot.

Just because you have the best team, it does not mean you have the best individual players at each position. Given the small number of spots chosen by the coaches, I see Tim and Manu going, but not Tony.
