If I had to guess, I would say: space heater.

I would recommend getting more than one estimate as to the cost to fix the place up, and start thoroughly re-reading your insurance policy.

seriously dude use your insurance to rebuild and then upgrade the utilities. then - up the rent. this could be an awesome situation.

edit: damnit lebomb, youre the last person id expect to make that statement :lol

You never did say if you had insurance or not.

Yes, the house is fully insured and the renters have a good renters policy. They were cooking and left the house to go to HEB. The fire started at the stove. Boarded the house up last night.

Gonna gut the house and re-build it.

As for my heart... I went last week and got my first echo-cardiogram since all this stuff happened with me health wise... If you all remember, three years ago, my heart ejection fraction was at 27%. A normal healthy male has an ejection rating of 55%+

Well.......... it's not official yet, the doctor hasn't called me with the results, but the clinician giving me the test told me that my current rating is 56%... that's normal function. If that's the case, I'm coming off that transplant list!

Damn. That's great news as far as your heart goes.

And they left the house unattended leaving food cooking on the stove?! Wow. I'd be seriously pissed but relieved no one got hurt.

thats fucking awesome.

1) you didn't live there, so it's not your shit that got burned.

2) you don't have to feel sorry for the renter's shit getting burned, bcuz they are the stupid fucks who leave shit on the stove while going to the store

3) people get arrested for arson and insurance fraud for opportunities like this. it fell into your lap. now you can refurbish the entire house with brand new shit and increase the rent!!

4) and your heart is back to normal. don't just forget abotu it though. if i were you, i'd keep getting the heart checked every so often to make sure the "normalcy" is stable.

good times for you pakidan
