Just finished watching Boston kill the Blazers. They remind me of the old Spurs with there defense. To tell you the truth i was kind of falling asleep. Why isn't anyone complaining about there team being boring? Chris Webber and Kevin Mchale are salivating over them....

it doesnt matter. they are in a major city. san antonio is a big city but no offense its not major. or a market people can tolerate defensive struggles. people loved the knicks and they used to play those horrible games in the low late 80 points.

Hell no. The way they talk to each other, cheer each other on, play team defense is just awesome. While I think the Spurs offense is better than theirs, their defense is where we should be but we're not even close.
The Miami Heat are boring. No team comradery, two guys are bigger than the team. Spurs and Celtics are the class of the NBA. And the Lakers when Kobe feels like it.

No. With KG constantly banging his chest, the return of technical foul-prone Perkins, and the dramatic flair of Pierce, Boston is definitely fun to watch.lol.

I know what you're saying and I agree. If this were the same team, but they played in San Antonio and not Boston, they wouldn't be thought of as a glamorous team.
I like watching them though and I agree that the Heat are boring. It's just two guys taking turns pounding the ball into the floor and going one on one.
As far as aesthetics go, the Spurs have no equal. I don't say that as a fan of the team, but rather as a fan of the game. I could see how people thought the twin towers Spurs were boring (even though I didn't agree), but this team? Not a chance.

A big market in comparison to a small one...there is a huge national difference. If the C's were here & the Spurs there, we would have very different media results.
But to answer your question...No, they are not boring to watch.

When we played like them we were boring, but Boston is just great.

If the Spurs had Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, then this team would be considered more exciting. They'd also have 3 less rings but whatever, the focus is on exciting.
If the Spurs best players were ALL AMERICAN, then the AMERICAN media would cover them more often. But the powers that be, unless you play in a top 4 big market city, will choose to ignore you because, they feel that Americans understand American stars better...UNLESS OF COURSE, YOU WERE ALREADY A GLOBAL ICON to begin with, like say David Beckham in Soccer or Ichiro Suzuki in Baseball. Those guys get covered even though, they're from other countries.
Tony Parker said it best,"If we were doing what we do but in New York, we'd be treated like gods."

if they played in SA, they won't be called boring.. they'd be called thugs plain and simple.
just to add... our guards are extremely fun to watch... dribble drive.. kick-out... dribble drive... kick out. if you're the opposing defense, you'd be shitting your pants constantly facing that.

So there was some writer who really said "sorry, San Antonio fans, but your team is boring." I sent him an email pointing out the up-tempo quality of this year's team, Tony and Gino's play, the fact that (at the time, anyway) we were fifth in offense, and asked him (a) what made the team boring and (b) how many games had he watched.
His response said "I never said the team wasn't excellent, but to millions of fans outside of SA they are boring." Notice how he didn't address either question. People think SA is boring because of the style of play that won us those championships and refuse to let go of that perception.

It's like the "soft" label the national media put on the Spurs and David Robinson in the mid-90's. The only reason it sticks around is because the media perpetuates it, not that it really has any grounding in reason.

People still think this is the same old Spurs team so they won't tune in to watch the *new* Spurs. The Spurs still need more dunkers and chest beaters to go up on the exciting meter.

Ray friggin Allen - who acts like a queen and has his Mamma courtside every game it seems, acts like he is the most entitled player ever (next to Garnett) and while he is a great shooter like say the Ray Rocket does he even eat subs like the underappreciated sandwich man.
Seriously, Ray friggin Allen exciting ????????
Here is what is else wrong with Boston at least:
1) Rondo gets his stats inflated - Google that if you want to read about his psuedo assists and I will not get into his strange looks
2) Boston has the absolutely worst and most homer announcers ever
3) Garnett is a punk period - all that intensity garbage masks a bitter man who picks on others when it is convenient for him but never goes after anyone substantial.
4) Shaq is a carpet bagger desperately seeking another ring in about his 6th NBA city so far and gets so much of a pass from the media as a clown figure when he also has belittled other great players and has wasted arguebly the greatest natural talent ever through laziness that kept him from truly being in the very top tier of all time NBA greats.
5) Most importantly, Boston and their fans and the media invented the "big three #@$" when San Antonio's big three much more accomplished and Manu and Parker both play more exciting games than either Pierce or Allen and Duncan's game is actually more exciting to watch than Garnett whose pseudo intensity masks the fact he never before and rarely will step up for a crucial shot and prefers that soft jumper crap to this day. Pierce is also the greatest melodramatic player ever when it comes to injuries and ought to have a courtside wheelchair traveling and waiting for him everytime he goes on the court.
Yet in spite of that they are still a very good team mainly because they are absolutely stacked in depth at multiple positions and play team ball as well as anyone except for the Silver and Grey.
Yes Boston is a boring team (and very) but to be fair that is probably the only good thing they have going for them as that boring label has worked well for another MUCH more accomplished big three and team.
Boston is not boring. The Spurs were never boring either. The Spurs were victims of small market bias.

I will not google it, but I watch some Boston games and yes, Rondo seems to get easy assists, but it is because he has excellent jump shooters on the team who knock it down just after he hands the ball over. This guy had over 20 assists against the Spurs, take away 5 what you call pseudo assists, 15-17 Ast is still pretty amazing. You cannot have inflated assist numbers ... it all depends on the guy making the shot after you pass him the ball. And Rondo always finds his guys when they are open.
And the behind the back ball fake of Rondo is definetely not boring !

A Boston fan's view and on to the fact that Rondo does receive at least some "cooking" of his assists numbers:

TBH, the 96-98 Bulls were really boring
Sure, Jordan had the odd flashback dunk here and there, but it was mostly pass, pass, jump-shot, pass, pass, pass, jump-shot, pass, pass, pass, jump-shot

Well, thankfully most people said the same thing as I did - Rondo has more assists because he is surrounded by great shooters. This has nothing to do with inflation. Perhaps John Stockton would have averaged less assists without Karl Malone at his side. Thats just the way it is. You will not lead the league in rebounds if you have another top rebounder playing with you.
I also watched the video of the Rondo assist that never was ... that was a mistake which was corrected after the game. End of story ...

If you don't believe that at least a few of Rondo's assists are cooked then I have some land to sell you. Basically the select rule for him and a few other PGs (Paul especially has been thought to also have somewhat excessive numbers) and assists is he touches ball throws pass then whatever the player does from then on leading to basket = assist.
