This doesn't necessarily mean he'll play tonight but I hope he gets on the court some.

If James plays great tonight there's a chance he may get his 17 minutes backing up RJ for the rest of the season :tu

he's THAT good!

Well, in his 6 games hes played so far he looked quite good. I watched every minute. But honestly lets get a larger sample size. I loved what I saw from him but I'd rather let him go out there are prove it before I proclaim anything or decree any minutes requirement. Neal has proven quite successful so far in his extended look. Anderson had the nod heading into the season, but now hes behind Gary and will have to carve out his niche again.

Well this is about giving Manu a larger rest from now on too my friend.

TP/ Hill
Manu / Neal
RJ / Anderson

that way Manu could start playing 30 less... only if JA is back to what we saw at the beginning ofcourse... or even better,,, i also understand you wanting Gary to keep his role but competition for minutes will make them both better... and Gary doesn't have the size to defend Small Forwards as James does...

I predict we'll see this from JA tonight:

I'm just recommending that people temper enthusiasm. The guy is a rookie with 6 pro games under his belt that is recovering from an injury and hasn't played but 2 competitive games in the last 2 months.

Meanwhile, Neal has really stepped up for us and played great.

Long-term I think that Anderson will be far and away the better player because of his physical gifts. But right now Neal is proven and Anderson really isn't. He'll have to fight into the rotation with whatever scraps we can get him. Hopefully he does that quickly and comes in and immediately looks like he belongs (like he did in the early season) and keeps up that poise. It would be good for the team as a whole as well as getting Manu rest.

We simply need to be realistic about him is all I'm saying.

Anderson will not be in uniform or on the active roster tonight.

James Anderson is still assigned to the Toros, but he's here for tonight's game. Working out w/ #Spurs coaches at pre-game shootaround.

Feel like I could throw it in from half court today. Just one of those days, I guess.

You and the rest of the crew can go back to dominating me on the news-posting now. This dog just had his day (2 posts).

WTF? He could have easily played a noon Toro game and gotten up here for the game tonight. Why would they pass on the opportunity for him to get floor time?

Seems odd. My guess was that they were planning on sitting Neal so they told JA to come back home but now that Neal is good to go they slowed the process down again.

Correction, James Anderson will be in uniform tonight. #Spurs

As the press release was sent out after I tweeted that he was here but wouldn't play.

Coach Pop said that they wanted Anderson here to provide cover in the rotation. But Pop doesn't anticipate playing him much, if at all.

James Anderson recalled to Spurs, at least for tonight. Pop says he's here for "insurance purposes" with Neal gimpy, won't be in rotation.

This seems to be the most logical explanation, given the latest from @aamcneill48MoH

It really doesn't matter. He wasn't getting any kind of real minutes regardless.

I wonder if this means Larry Owens will some meaningful minutes. I know they can make lineups without a backup SF, but why not using him considering he's available?

I'm talking about the potential for chronic injury, knucklehead.

Why would there be any potential for chronic injury?

I can't remember any guards with that problem.

"It felt real good just to be back playing,” Anderson said. “Any time I’m on the court, I’m just embracing it. It was after a long night, but it felt good just to be out there for those couple of minutes and be part of the team.”

..."I got good minutes and got my conditioning up,” he said.

“It was a good deal all over. The real conditioning will still have to come, and it will, sooner or later.”
