The last on-field connection to his franchise’s best days, Wandy Rodriguez got the contract he always wanted. The Astros, in turn, got a lefty-righty combination at the top of their rotation they hope will lead them back to more days like the 2005 World Series.
A year of campaigning and a year of backing up his breakout 2009 campaign ultimately led to Tuesday, when Rodriguez, a lefthander who turned 32 last week, beat the team-imposed arbitration deadline and agreed to terms on a three-year, $34 million contract."

I guess they have to sign there ace! lol It's really hard to be a Astros fan these days!

It's a good move. He's an above average lefty and brings a little bit of stability to that weak rotation. If Myers has another solid year and Norris continues to progress I think they might have a decent rotation. Jordan Lyles might be able to earn a spot at the end of the rotation. This will give them a nice blend of youth and experience. This year might not THAT bad.

The lineup is kind of weak, especially in the 3-5 spots. Carlos Lee is a waste of a lineup spot and there is no way Pence can be the clean up hitter. He just doesn't have the power. Brett Wallace has the potential to be that type of hitter but he is too raw to be able to automatically fill that void. Chris Johnson may be able to do that as well but it is definitely going to be a problem. They are going to have to try and play fast on the bases to make up for that lack of power hitting but I don't think they have the personnel for that.
