And then each week they'd con some poor schmuck into letting Savage take him to the top rope, straight up off Savage's shoulders, upside down for that suplex. The WWE doesn't have a strong face or heel. So they are using these stables as substitutes. It's their fault for letting Cena pretty much have his way for like 4 years. He never jobs to anyone and he rearely loses legit. (It's been awhile since i've seen it though. What happened to HHH?

Triple H is injured tbh or he's having the time of his life with the CEO's daughter.

Cena needs to be a villain again. It's been like 5 years since he was last vilified. But it seems that the WWE is in a point of no return with regards to Cena's role in the WWE. Lead movie roles, constant PR of him as the face of the WWE, and he's immovable as a protagonist.

Cena is like the LeBron of the WWE. It's not like he's vilified, but all he does is always for the kids. So he's got a lot of say in a lot of stuff, even in championship matches.

I would like Orton to give him an ass-kicking. But if in that case that they face, Cena would still win and Orton will be the villain :lmao

Wrestling completely sucks ass now. Ever since Stone Cold and The Rock have been gone, it just hasnt been the same. Seriously...the Miz and Alberto Del Rio as the main event guys? What a joke. Even the scrubs of back then like Goldust, Gangrel, Edge, and Christian were more entertaining and would wipe the floor with these scrubs like CM Punk, Wade Barrett, etc. of today. The Attitude Era was the best time for wrestling, Stone Cold, The Rock, DX, Undertaker, Kane, Mankind....:tu The only good part about tonights Royal Rumble was Diesel (Nash) and Booker T coming back...

And there was another great act, the Reverend Love, he'd be dressed all in white talkin' about love and kindness and he'd entice some "good guy" to trust him....."I love you".....then just the beat holy shit out of him.

Piper's Pit was a similar bent. Roddy would entice some good guy to sit down and act like somebody and sure as shit the guy would end up wearin' the chair he was sittin' on before the first commercial. Good times.

Yep, it was all right there, one great wrestling act after another. You take it for granted at the time, thinking it will never end.

Little things: the way Brett Hart would whip off his sun glasses when the Hart Foundation was in vogue, the explosion of energy after a tag during the tag team match, the way the crowd would go almost hysterical when the fake blood would make it's appearance, the similiarities twixt Miss Elizabeth & Kor I. Ellis.

Ellis.

Little things.
Yup. All the things you said.

Wrestling is now more of a cliche. If the attitude era was to be brought in, everything would change (especially ratings).

Nothing will ever beat the WWF Raw vs. WCW Nitro showdowns of 1996 and on. The formation of the nWo forced Vince McMahon to go to the "Attitude Era" and begin his feud with Austin, which was a fucking classic story line. It never got old. Stone Cold being fired, coming back to the arena with a gun, destroying Vince's car with a cement truck, drowning Vince, Shane, and The Rock in beer with the beer truck. I could go on and on and on...but that was WWF's finest hour...and now it's a PG show for kids. :td

Don't watch it anymore, was a fan of the NWO and the wolf pack. After that fell off I stopped watching it. Scott Hall was my favorite, he was hilarious and a pimp at the same time. He would throw a tooth pick in your face, run away, then drop his signature move, the razors edge, on somebodies punk ass.

I went to a wrestling match in those days. I always saw people throw stuff on stage after the end of the show on TV all the time. When the show was over I threw a half full plastic coke bottle trying to launch it on stage. It did not make it, not even close. I clobbered some bitch on her head with that bottle so bad. She was holding her head like it hurt and her raging, huge, bf was pissed off looking around. I shit my pants and played it off, no way they could tell who it was with the whole crowd. My bro threw a ball on stage and it actually made it, you can see it when they aired it on TV.

I don't mind the PG era. It's a good way to bring in new/younger viewers. As soon as the kids who worship Cena get in their teens, then WWE will start the attitude era again, imo.

I was really hoping that Booker T would have eliminated at least some of the Nexus, or stayed in the match a litte bit longer. And why did every competitor rush the ring while Nexus was in control? They should have waited the 90 seconds to let someone else come out and join forces instead of going 1 on 4 against Nexus.

It's great to have some of these flashbacks of great wrestling. I will think in the near future(probably 1 or 2 years) they will bring back the tv-14. It's kind of a smart move by the wwe if you ask me. Sure the product sucks right now, but it sucked back then in the early 90's. Then with the kids all grown up, they will cater the teenagers and hopefully it will have some kind of new era of wrestling like we haven't seen before.

They also need someone who can get funny catchphrases who can basically talk shit about anybody. I don't know who that is, but Christian is the closest thing right now to pull that effect. This is just my 2 cents anyways.

Son January-April is usually wrestling season because you've got the Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber and Wrestlemania in succession. Then it takes a royal dip as the next good event is the Summer Slam.

I knocked "Attend a Wrestlemania" off my bucket list a couple years ago in Houston. Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels...you would have thought it was game 7 of the NBA Finals the way the crowd was going.

Seeing Stone Cold's HOF induction live was also badass...esp. when you're the one who starts the "One More Match" chant :king

I remember a Monday Night Raw where the entire McMahon Family were involved at one point in a pissing match with Austin and Austin went around giving each the Stone Cold Stunner. When he got to the old lady (Linda) she was scared to death and wouldn't let him touch her, but, he portended to do it to her anyway, but, he never got within a foot of her. She bounced nonetheless.

Great lodgement on the retirement video, V. I'd never seen before.

You got The Beast from the East Scott "Bam Bam" Bigelow, The Bushwhackers Luke and Butch, The Rockers (Marty Jeanetty and a very young Shawn Michaels), Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig, The Natural Disasters Earthquake John Tenta and Typhoon (nee Tugboat), and last but not least you've got Scott Hall back in his Razor Ramon days. Good times. I always liked Razor's little routine with the chains. Always the same speech to whatever guy he handed them off to at ringside, "Somting 'appen to deez, somting going to 'appen to you."

Pure majesty, in the long robe with the long blonde hair back.

Never permitted himself to be humiliated by schtick.

He came to Cleveland for like a three year stint in the late '60s, early '70s, and had quite a line with Johnny Powers, the local favorite. They had terrible match at the Cleveland Arena about '70 where the Cleveland PD had to be called. Valentine beat him about half to death. It was awful. It was highly debatable if it were actually real, but, it was convincing at the time.

HHH before Fall 2002 I loved. Once he became the top dog after Rock and Austin left was tough to watch. He never lost his world title belt. He had the leverage because he was married into the family.

However that leverage wouldn't be there for him if Austin/Rock never left. If Austin/Rock wanted to be the champ, Vince would allow it because they both brought him the best income.

Yes. It was a special time and the itinerary was static. Americans like static. And McMahon gave us what we wanted. We asked once and he never failed us. "You want this? No problem."

Only time failed us:::"Problem with time I've learned, eventually time always runs out."

But, from the look of this thread, we caught the whirlwind and it rests now in our hearts & minds where nobody can take it from us.

That, is as good as it gets.
