How do the contracts match up? Not a bad trade if true, but your giving up alittle defense, but Jamison is a good scoring 3,4, and a good guy.

trippin' in the lockerroom ...

If true, they'll have to put Odom on suicide watch, Artest too.

That appears to be the case, but thats part of the package you get with Ron Ron.

I wouldn't say one player is necessarily better than the other in this case, I'd just say that they're better for teams based on the situation. I would think LA would want Artest's defense, but maybe they need Jamison's scoring more right now. Antawn Jamison is even older than Ron Artest though, but I wouldn't consider him washed up yet. He's still good at what he's always been good at.

contracts aren't even close. artest makes the MLE while jamison earns a $13 million+ contract.

Walton would square it and I'd probably live another 5 years at the end of my original life span.

unless gilbert really wants to get back at lebron, the cavs aren't going to trade their best player for two significantly worse players and MORE long term money.

If this trade happens, does it really improve the Lakers, other than getting rid of straight jacket Ron Ron?

Why would the Lakers do this regardless of the salaries matching up? Jamison is 34 years old. He is old and is not really a 3 anymore. His D blows. They will also have a logjam at the 4. I don't buy it.

No it doesn't. It makes them worse. Much much worse.

fwiw, TheMachine is like 50 percent on his predictions. Just do a coin toss to see if this is true or not.

My sources are telling me its gonna be Ron Artest + Ebanks for OJ Mayo + Filler.

Trade failed in the ESPN trade machine, it would take both Odom and Artest to get him. Or Bynum. Either way horrible trade for Lakers.

defense is our primary issue ...issue lack of playmakers is secondary ...

how would this help either one?

Jamison is terrible. I'd rather just bank on Artest showing up in the playoffs like last year.

I would love for this to happen

Jamison is a no show in the playoffs and he can't play any defense.

Time for the Lakers to call up Memphis and get Tony Allen...

That would be a David West-caliber player coming in... nothing to write home about, tbh

Another issue is as a defender he's gonna get burned at the three. Too old and slow to play there these days. I don't even know if he's going to be nearly as effective as a scorer at that position anymore.

Jamison seems to be bad luck for any team he joins, he's bound to be a lifetime loser, from an NBA standpoint..Artest is a mediocre player..so it's a wash, in that regard..

However, this would be a stupid move for the Cavs..Jamison has 2 years left on his deal, while Artest has more years left + Walton has a horrible contract(since they would have to throw another player in)..if they get Bynum back, then I would do it if I'm Cleveland, but otherwise, it doesn't make too much sense..

I forgot about it, but the Lakers should have a $4 million or so trade exception from the Vujacic dump.

Hell to the no. He is old and washed up. Lakers need more youth and athleticism. Can't see the Lakers doing that dumb shit - even if Barnes comes back from injury straight balling.

JoeTait75

Dumb trade for both teams tbh. Lake Show should just wait till the Cavaliers get a player with a pulse, and then trade for him.

Sons, people on message boards don't really have a "source". In the real world, a "source" is actually 2 or more people, not one.

Besides, who believes a trade is in the works the DAY there's something written about Artest's discontent? Bullshittery is afoot.

I actually thought of something like this where the Lakers add a future 1st rounder with no protection in a few years time. It'll look great if Kobe declines badly and/or they deal major injuries and retirements but the Cavs would need a bit of luck here.
