AJ Terry Porter (kinda sorta) and now Mike Brown. The greatest testament to the skill of a coah is to have his assistants go on to be hired elsewhere, as Pop gains more respect around the league you'll see more of his people in key positions.

btw you're all fucking pussies its 3 to 1

Sounds like P.J. is about to join that group. With 30 NBA teams, 1/6th of the NBA is coached by Pop or those who are in some way his proteges.

That doesn't even bring into consideration guys like R.C., Kevin Pritchard, Danny Ferry and other front office types who've come within Pop's tutelage.

Still, somehow, when people discuss the league's great coaches, Pop is an afterthought -- and around here sometimes, you'd think he is lucky to be able to string together more than 3 words.

i don't know if this has been discussed before. I've been out for a couple of days...

Timberwolves interview Carlesimo for coaching vacancy ?

MINNEAPOLIS -- San Antonio Spurs assistant P.J. Carlesimo interviewed for the Minnesota Timberwolves coaching job during a break of the Western Conference finals.
Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor said he received permission from the Spurs to speak to Carlesimo on Friday, an off day for the Spurs in their series against Phoenix.

"They had a couple of days off between games and we had asked for authorization," Taylor said. "So we flew down and it went well."

Taylor said he still has a few candidates he wants to interview before deciding on a successor to Kevin McHale. McHale, also the team's vice president of basketball operations, fired Flip Saunders in February and coached the team for the rest of the season. He is staying as an executive.

Carlesimo has been a head coach at Portland and Golden State. If he were hired by Minnesota, Latrell Sprewell's contentious run in Minnesota almost surely would end. Sprewell played under Carlesimo at Golden State and choked Carlesimo during a practice in 1997, prompting a national debate on the conduct of athletes.

Taylor said he has interviewed about 10 people for the job, including Timberwolves assistants Sidney Lowe, Randy Wittman and Jerry Sich

:cry. Coach P.J. knows TOO much of the Spurs/Pops plays..we could be in trouble.
