Didn't know whether or not this had already been posted, but the Bleacher Report compiled a list of 10 Trade Options To Stay Ahead of the L.A. Lakers

Below is a snippet that details one of the better trade options provided in the report. As far as the other options, some make sense. Others don't. To access the full list, refer to the link, near the bottom of this post.

3. Trade For Corey Brewer
There might not be a player on this list that would fit better into the Spurs system than Corey Brewer.Brewer is a no-mistake, quality decision maker, all-around player the Spurs preach for. He can play multiple positions and he can guard all of them too. With recent rumblings that the Timberwolves will not re-sign Brewer, why not go after him? There can’t be that high of a price tag for a guy like Brewer. Trading for Brewer almost makes too much sense. Plus, he has never been in the headlines for character issues, something Popovich would love. With the recent trade discussions involving Brewer, don’t be surprised if the Spurs throw their hat in the ring sometime soon. Brewer could come in for Parker or Ginobili, further giving the Spurs studs some much needed rest. If the Spurs keep their expectations to a solid off the bench guy, they will be very pleased with acquiring Brewer. Don’t second guess this one San Antonio, go get Brewer.

our roster is set

i dont think any trade is going upgrade this teams chemistry going atm

maybe if they wanted a draft pick and torros rights, then yes...other then that no

hence whats his contract like? is he up for an extention cause i see spurs lowballing again and him bolting, then we just wasted a trade

The only scenario that made any kind of sense was to give James Anderson more playing time.

It does say resign Oberto. I wouldn't mind having a 6th big to get a few minutes here in there, but I wonder if he's eligible to sign or if they're just talking out their ass. Antawn Jamison, a guy with no titles would make us favorites to win the title...lol. I do agree with giving James Anderson minutes, but that might happen when he gets back in rhythm and shape in Austin.

A lot of these propositions do make sense though, in NBA 2K11 maybe...

were 44-8 with the team we have. were either going to win it all with this team or not. were not going to start fucking with the lineups this late into the season.

Spurs don't need a trade, it would be foolish at this point..if you can pick up a good player for cheap, obviously you think about it..if somebody gets bought out and wants to join the team, obviously you think about it..however, if that doesn't happen, keep the roster as it is, hopefully Splitter continues to play better, and Anderson gets in shape quickly..

splitter i think will come in handy when playoff comes along...

big body down low man to man defense his good at, too bad we dont have any jumping jack shotblockers on the team, but he does well with what he has...this will give td, dice and blair a breather, he doesnt hand out lazy fouls either, just needs to get more respect from the refs though...

still needs to improve on his ft shooting...

I would love corey brewer for our 1st rounder this year, but I dont think we have anything else to match up salaries we can offer.

Battier isn't worth anything more than maybe at best 2 2nd round picks hopefully houston would help the spurs

again like the chandler situation these are 2 players spurs could get this offeason, but Spurs are really relying on this year to win number 5, so it could be a good gamble if one of them helps us win them all.

I hope spurs bring up Marcus Cousins sooner or later, I think tiago can do alot of what oberto could do with minutes.

yeah hamilton, jamison, and mayo would be nice if we could afford them.

Murphy will probably get bought out, and spurs will probably make him a offer, any big man that can knock down 3's and rebound will defintley get pop wet.

Would be nice if Anderson can get back in the rotation, but I think pop will give him the george hill rookie treatment in the playoffs this year, thinking he's not ready cause he hasn't played enough games in the nba.

brewer or any long 3 makes sense to me,

out of all them i want wilson chandler, he has shown what he can do with alot of minutes on the knicks, his game reminds me of pippen...his willing to take on the responsibility on offense and defensive matchups...dudes potential is of the roof.

battier is past his prime and living on reputation...if he is still good, the rockets would be climbin up the win column

A possible Corey Brewer acquisition would make logical sense for the long term - even if it meant burning a 1st rounder on him. He would certainly help shore up the backup SF position. Assuming Pop doesn't fall in love with Novak, of course.

However, the most logical move, and most immediate, would be the re-integration of James Anderson back into the rotation, when he's ready. Based on what we all saw in the first 6-7 games, that could pay huge dividends, down the road. Besides, he's fresh because he's been out so long.

Parker/Hill/Quinn

lol @ putting Stackhouse on this list after he was just shitting on the Spurs no more than 10 days ago on NBATV.

EDIT: That was just after seeing the first slide. Now... :lmao at the entire list (sans OJ Mayo & Corey Brewer - which aren't going to happen anyway)

Ok, none of those players are worth trading for and actually giving someone up for this season. To make a trade that would drastically change rotation and chemistry when we are 44-8 is pretty much the absolute stupidest thing you can do at this point.

However, I was pretty shocked to see that Battier and Murphy are reportedly not getting resigned by their teams. With that said, championship or no championship, those should be two big targets by the Spurs in the off-season, especially Battier! He fits our system almost too perfectly, and everyone knows it. I would be ecstatic if we somehow got him.

So come on over to South Texas next season Battier. We gonna get you a ring. :toast

Why would such an article be published? The Spurs are one of the least likely teams to make any significant trade this season. This article makes no sense.

The writer ought to publish "The Top Players LA Can Trade Kobe For"....just to continue the trend.

you all do realize that basically anybody can write for bleacher report? He didn't "get paid" for writing this.

Here's his bio:

What's going on everyone, my name is Peter Hill and I am a Junior at Florida State University. I currently major in Sports Management and double minor in Communications and Hospitality Management. I'm 21 years old and love to write, listen, watch, play, and do everything sports!

My sports interests revolve around 5 major teams/organizations (which branches out into many other things). Kansas Jayhawks basketball, Seminoles everything, Atlanta Braves baseball, Minnesota Vikings football, and NBA everything.

Plus, he's a Jayhawk fan...which means he's a douche.

What? McGrady gets no love?

My thoughts exactly. That trade might actually make sense too.

Also, if theres an option to "Put Anderson in the rotation" then I'm surprised that there isn't a similar option for Splitter.

The Spurs are up 8 games on the Lakers with 30 to go. I'm not sure how they need a trade to stay ahead of them. It would pretty much take some combination of a scorching streak by the Lakers and a bad run by the Spurs for the positions to change.

The funniest parts of writing were Trade for Hamilton, Trade for Murphy, Trade For Shane Battier and Open Room For Jamison. We can't give anything to get one of those guys. Salary match is nearly impossible.

O.J. Mayo, James Anderson, Anthony Randolph, Oberto, Corey Brewer offers are possible ones.
We don't have enough matterial(late first round draft picks, draft rights of Nando De Colo etc) to offer instead of O.J. Mayo, Memphis can get much better offers for him. Same for Brewer too.
We can get Anthony Randolph without giving up too many things but i'm not sure we need him.
Resigning Oberto will not help us except making our front-court crowded.

Ludicrous we would have to go like 5-20 for the Lakers to catch us. They will be seeing flashbacks of that tip in rest of the season!
