The NBA has teamed up with Marvel Entertainment LLC and the two will collaborate to create an exclusive collection of co-branded merchandise featuring NBA team logos and renowned super heroes.


...NBA officials say the super hero-inspired merchandise line will include co-branded apparel and accessories, with artwork featuring a variety of Marvel characters including Spider-Man, Captain America and Hulk, among others, dressed in NBA team colors and logos.

The Spurs, according to NBA spokeswoman Amanda Thorn, will be represented by a pair of Marvel characters — the Silver Surfer and Wolverine.

Thorn (not to be confused with another Marvel character, Thor) says the new NBA super hero merchandise featuring the Spurs will be available at NBAStore.com and at participating JC Penney stores.

Well if they're going to put Thor, Cap, and Iron Man on the cover I guess they're the Aven-Spurs. Actually I'd feel more comfortable if they were comparing to the Fantastic Four simply because the Spurs have won a championship every year that a FF movie has been released, 2005 and 2007, even if they just killed off the Human Torch and replaced him in the line up with Spiderman.

So you'd have Tony Parker as Spiderman: Same last name, now divorced from actress wife, marriage may have been used in a deal with the devil for One More Championship.

Dejuan Blair as The Thing: With that wingspan it's tempting to make him a different member but let's face it. The guy's built like a brick shit house and when he crashes the board it's clobberin' time. My former Thing stand in 2007 was Pop, but his skin seems to have cleared up a little.

George Hill as Reed Richards: He's got the crazy wingspan. On top of that if what they say on the internet about his nude pics are true then he's lengthy everywhere and I'm sure the ladies are calling him Mister Fantastic already.

Richard Jefferson as the Invisible Woman: admittedly, the joke worked better in 2007 with Beno's man purse, but he still disappears for stretches. Prove me wrong, RJ.

They may have said they would use Wolverine and silver surfer for Spurs only, but they used Wolverine or Orlando and Surfer for Nets.

Because the main point of this story, the fact that the NBA is making Marvel Characters to represent teams to sell as merchandise, has nothing to do with the fact that espn the magazine had created a NBA preview using marvel characters. Totally different ventures that have somehow been confused as being one and the same...

Again, espn did a NBA preview issue for espn the magazine back in October 2010 that was totally seperate and has nothing to do with the Marvel/NBA merchandise deal just announced...
I don't need to post a link as you guys have already looked at the mag artwork.. 1. the marvel/nba merchandise deal has nothing to do with the other, 2. the espn nba preview/marvel artwork...
