I was watching the Celtics/Lakers game when Ray Allen passed Reggie Miller in Made 3pt Shots becoming the new holder of the record. This made me wonder how Gary Neal, an up and coming great shooter, stacks up against him. What I found was interesting.

Ray Allen (Rookie Season)

scored 117 3pt Shots Made
Shot 39.3% from 3
played 30.9 minutes per game

Gary Neal: (note: season still in progress)

currently has 79 3pt Shots Made
is shooting 42% from 3
is playing 19.3 minutes per game

Of course, Gary Neal is no where near Ray Allen today and will probably never break his record (he is a 26 year old rookie), but its interesting seeing one of the Spurs best shooters matched up against one of the greatest of all time. Something to look forward to I guess.

Interesting comparison, I think Neal will be a good one for us long term, what a find he was. Almost makes up for Scola, almost...

Are you serious!?!?!?! Of course Ray Allen is one of the greatest of all time. He broke the 3pt record tonight with 3 seasons less.

Please don't say he would choke in playoffs because he actually has the record for most 3's in a Finals game.

Guy is a world class shooter and definitely one of the best ever

OK thanks for clarifying now I am even more confused.

Throw in a few double negatives and my head will really be spinning!

Maybe its the wine, LOL.

does this answer your question?

he's one of the best... but he's not greatest of all time.

Ray Allen was never a 26 year old rookie with a rocky past. Neal can't hold Ray Allen's Jock strap at this point. Keep shooting though

Sorry, but Choo Choo will never be 75% of the player Ray Allen was in his prime. I do think Neal could average 15+ in the right situation though.
