Know there are other fans here, even though they don't post as often as they used to.

In any case, they've confirmed a small club tour this spring and will be announcing dates/venues tomorrow. To go with the reissue of their self-titled album, they'll be playing that album in its entirety along with a few B-sides and unreleased songs. Just a heads up for those who may be interested. A New Orleans stop has already been leaked, so I'll finally get to see them live.

doubt they will make it to SA, but that would be badass. Love the band.

Homme's best effort. Crooked Vultures just didn't rock as hard as it should have.

What's their best album?

I would probably go with songs for the deaf.
My parents really like the song Burn the Witch (different album), says it reminds them of Cream.

good band, live act is so-so as far as entertainment is concerned. even though they sort of just stand there, i still thoroughly enjoy their shows. seen them twice now, once at lollapalooza many yrs ago and another time out in austin at emo's i believe.

remastered self titled was supposed to release in november... then january... now march.

for sure they will be playing austin so that'll be nice... hopefully they do sasquatch or bonaroo as well because I've made plans to go to one of those. Just waiting to see what bonaroo's lineup is.

They won't be doing sasquatch. And if you want to buy tickets, you need to hurry. Supposedly, they are close to selling it out already.

Bands are added all the time. Death From Above 1979, a headliner, recently reunited and were added just a couple days ago... a full week after the original lineup was announced for sasquatch.

Obviously you know nothing of the band or their history. Hell, Homme was the one who was telling Dave how to drum in the first place if you've ever seen the making of SFtD.

wasn't Dave only a bit member? He didn't actually write material with the band did he?

He played drums on one album.

Saw them in Boston during the SftD tour, I dug it. Self-titled is really groovy to me (not sure why it needs remastering, it captures the times it was recorded in), Rated R was perfect to me when I first heard and I wondered how they could ever follow-up, SftD was a worthy successor, but something felt like it was missing when Oliveri was kicked out. There's a randomness that isn't in the music anymore, but maybe it's just Homme getting older.

But as far as them playing old stuff and B-sides, I'm down.

I was glad to read this news elsewhere and I'd like to catch this show, as their first album is my personal favorite. However, I'm equally apprehensive to go since wherever the gig takes place out here, it will be a high holy day for hipsters to show up to pose, tweet all through the set and drink PBR like there's no tomorrow.

Drachen

I guess I know nothing about hipster culture, but why would they drink pbr? I thought that they were snobs of some sort.

I guess it's part of their "indie" way of thinking; they think that they're so cool that only the shittiest beer available is good enough for their discerning palates.

I mean, I get the irony factor, but I always thought that the irony factor was used in something that they couldn't snobs about (Like wearing an "I voted for Bush" T-shirt). I don't know, I really didn't pay attention to "groups" in high school and I most certainly don't now.

Edit: off topic

I saw Queens of the Stone Age at Lollapalooza way back when Songs for the Deaf came out. I liked "No One Knows" but didn't want to buy the CD based on one song. I originally went to go see 30 Seconds to Mars and Incubus (hoping they'd play some stuff off of SCIENCE but knowing it wouldn't happen) and thought I'd give QOTSA a listen.

The next day my GF and I were buying the CD, they were so good.

Yep. Now there's a ton of them for sale online at over $300 a pop. I love the band, but not enough to spend more on one ticket than I spent for tickets to all seven days of Jazz Fest.

I actually could have gotten it myself since I follow the band on facebook. Likely wouldn't have made a difference, though, since my yesterday was so busy. Oh well all around.
