If I were able to skip a year in music, I think 2010 would be that year. There is not a song that has come out this year that I wouldn't delete off my ipod to make room for something better. Nothing.

And I was hugely disappointed. Didn't see the attraction at all.

Part of the problem is the televised broadcast being centered around the most "popular" acts. It seems true talents are honored in the pre-telecast: Jeff Beck, Mavis Staples, The White Stripes, Neil Young, Buddy Guy, Black Keys are all winners that no one got to see.

Yep. It's just the mainstream stuff everyone sees that's the crap. Er, most of the stuff. Besides the flashing-light productions and what not, there's some awesome musicianship going on in the backline. Phillinganes opening the show with JR Robinson on drums. wow. That's what I mainly pay attention to. Did anyone notice Jeff Beck didn't know where he was? I was cracking up. This Arcade Fire is borderline elementary. Sounds like wank to me. Agree. I don't pay attention to Urban much, but when I catch him performing I'm always surprised by his musicianship.

I wonder how big of a backlash Arcade Fire will get from their indie following for winning a Grammy. Subarbs sucked ass (half the cd was useless rehash), the academy obviously just wanted some indie cred. Still, they deserved awards from previous efforts so that's nice they have something now.

Hmmmm, I compared the two songs on my own and they sounded similar, but when I found a mash up...there's just enough difference to never give Alan Parsons Project a chance in court. Both songs are good, and certainly my appreciation for the Lady A song has fallen, but I don't think it's enough to say they completely ripped-off APP.

Lady Gaga has ripped off the Eurythmics, Madonna, and Ace of Base - all while being called unique and original. Much worse crime imo.

the lady a song tho' is a complete rip-off---on the chorus...then they change a tiny bit --on the verses...but I still think SOMEONE at the record company should have made them re-consider...

Completely different. If you're watching the Finals, there's a ~95% chance that you're watching two of the best teams playing, and probably an 80% chance that the two teams in the Finals ARE the best in the NBA.

Watching the Grammy's is the equivalent of watching an NBA Finals between between the Bucks and the Warriors while the announcers talk about how both teams are far and away the best in the league.

Not really, the grammy's are ``supposed'' to be the best in music for the given year...much like the nba finals...

I usually DVR it-and fast forward through most of it...but once in a while a good performance will be caught...then you can enjoy THAT performance...

I'm not defending the grammy's...none of us decided that those nominees were worth a shit...the so-called music industry has presented this every year for ages...and it claims to be the top award show in music...not MY definition...but this is what we got...
