hey fellas

i'm on a dell inspirion 530s with a 0RY007 mobo with a e4600 cpu atm and i have this urge to get a new CPU.

i was looking at benchmarks for mid range CPUs and the e7600 is pretty much tops, being that the e4600 and e7600 are both 775 sockets, it's safe to say that my mobo will be fine with the e7600 right?

u know whats wrong with these so called products from vendors, is that they stuff they sell to you in their products is limited to what upgrades u can do...

i say check the mobos spces if it can accept a higher processor and ram capabilities, u know what i mean...

While there is never a guarantee, LLGA 775 motherboards do tend to present some of the best upgrade paths of any platform I have ever tried to upgrade. If you have a Core 2 Duo, you very likely could go up to a very nice Core 2 Quad, or a much faster Core 2 Duo. Ram is cheap and plentiful, offering, quite often, capacities of 8GB of DDR2 at under 150 USD. And with SATA interfaces, you could slip in a SSD and get some MAJOR performance improvements (Intel, OCZ, G.Skill) of as much as 10 times the real world speed. If you need CAD or itch to game, you can put in just about any new video card and see real world improvement.

Your options are boundless, but the processor probably shouldn't be your 1st thing you would want to change. SSDs provide the best leap in performance I have ever seen.

Yeah. Dell's HP's etc can be pretty proprietary. I'd say the RAM and HD are the least you could swap out. I don't mess with brand name PC's. I'd just build one to have that freedom.

yeah i get what you guys mean. but tbh i dont wanna upgrade tooo much seeing how a dell inspirion aint shit really. i just wanna up some parts there and there with mid-range stuff.
