View Full Version : Favorite Current Spur Outside of Big 3

I'm bored and there's some time between the CHI game, so thought i'd ask who is your favorite current spur outside of the Big 3?

We have a lot of pretty likable guys this year (Neal with it) that make up the team's supporting cast who are all pretty easy to cheer for (even Bonner) so...Who's your favorite and why?

Me: Dice because he's one of the classiest players in the league and just super laid back. Basketball wise, he's been our best interior defender and hit a buzzer beater against the Fakers. He's the worst passer on the team but cant knock the old man. I hope he gets his ring.

Honorable Mention: Tiago. I'm a big tiago homer. idgaf what you haters say :)

George Hill's been my favorite non-big 3 Spur since his rookie year. Mainly because he reminds me of Willie Anderson (my very first "favorite Spur". Started watching during his rookie year). Looks like Hill is putting it together better than Chill did. Anderson did well in a random stat every game, but could never multi-task enough to put up well rounded stats. At least, that's how I remember him before his shins went to crap.

I agree with you about Dice. Awesome guy.

db, gh3, and neal. dice is just icing on the cake, dude has always been a standup guy in nba and outside the nba.

The great thing about this season: not only are we winning, but we've got great young talent that we are dying to see. For example, it's great to see Blair and Neal, young Spurs, getting minutes and producing. But even when the Spurs are leading by 20 in the fourth, I still want to watch the games to catch Splitter (when he's not injured) and James Anderson (when he's not in the D-League).

Dice. Class act all the way, and he's got some spring this season! That reverse last night was nice.

Watching Blair gobble up the boards never get old, either. :hungry:

He's got great hands, i feel as if he's anywhere near the ball after a miss, he's gonna get the rebound.

Fan-wise: Matt Bonner. Dude goes the extra mile in reaching out to the internet Spurs fans whether its the sandwich blog or Coach B vids, kinda like Steve Nash. He'd be a great future sportscaster. Best Cribs vid ever as well and isn't afraid to throw out some self-deprecating humor in interviews. He's probably had the most posts about him outside of the big 3 which is always fun :downspin:

i love dejuan but that outside jumper makes me cringe everytime he takes it :lol

GHill would be my logical choice if he hit the roll man more than once a month

its ridiculous to think how uber-stacked this team would have been if JA stayed healthy and Tiago had training camp....we'd be 12 players deep.

Hard to pick one, lots of likable guys on this team. I think Dice is just in a category of his own.

It's basically a toss-up between Blair, Neal, Hill, RJ, Bonner... but I'd say Neal, this guy came out of nowhere and the Spurs have struck gold with him. He can hit some really tough contested shots, not to mention the open ones.

last yr it was hill without a doubt but now thatt we dont have scrubs like bogans and mason playing big roles...id go with:

Favorites in descending order (strictly basketball related):

Neal
Dice
RJ
Hill
Bonner
Splitter
Blair
Novak
Quinn

I think Anderson would be number 3 if he actually played. I've been out for a while, what's the deal with him?

Splitter - because he was so overhyped on this board and any mention of him causes any thread to devolve into a "Splitter Minutes" flame war between idiots and imbeciles. And that keeps us lurkers entertained when we have days off between games.

I honestly just love this team.

Even Bonner. :downspin:

Very true. I love it when any of our guys are called to play. The last two seasons were very different. I would curse at the tv when guys like Finley, Mason, Bogans, Udoka, Vaughn, RJ of last year, and Bonner of the previous two years would sub in the starters.

Very hard for me to choose between Blair and Dice. I'll go with Dice because of his professionalism and the energy he has provided us considering his age. Get this guy a ring!

I'd say Neal with it, he has been the most impressive, coming out of nowhere, and playing as well as he has, while being only a rookie.

Neal - he reminds me somewhat of Mario Elie and he brings a level of confidence/cockiness that is not visible as much in other players.

If Dejuan played better D, I would totally agree.

Not hating, Manu is my favorite Spur, and Blair is my favorite outside of the Big 3. After that would be Dice, Splitter, and Hill. Hill was 2nd last year, but he's underperformed so far, imo.

All time?: Gotta be Bruce Bowen.

Currently?: George Hill.

What can I say? I like players that can hit that corner 3 with regularity. Add in the fact that Hill is a much better ball handler, and I'm sold.
