I was thinking today and started to wonder after seeing that the Spurs dont have any player who averages over 20 PPG. I thought I would check all NBA champions to see if there was ever any team that didnt have a 20 PPG players on thier team. At first look, I dont think I will find any Championships teams with no player averaging over 20 PPG, but Im gonna do the research and see what I come up with. Details soon. DID the research. check out the results in later posts. On another note, Did anyone notice the Spurs knocked off two 3 peat champoins..aka the Bulls(95-98) and LA LAKERS (99-02)

Spurs didn't "knock off" the Bulls. Jordan retired, and the Spurs won the following year.

You are right about beating the Lakers after their 3-peat though.

I've felt all season that the Spurs are kind of a throwback team. Here are few teams that won the title without a 20ppg scorer

Pistons - '04
Pistons - '90
Pistons - '89
Seattle - '79
Bullets - '78
Celtics - '76

Manu will average 20+ppg in the playoffs.

wow, the pistons not only donīt have a 20ppg scorer but they also donīt have a 20 points per36 player.

We donīt have a 20ppg scorer but we have Ginobili scoring 20.7 per 36 mins.

Also Tony is at 19.1 and TD is at 16.8

It wouldnīt be strange if the big 3 averages 36 mins thruout the playoffs.

thanks for the info. After looking up last 40 years, I came up with the teams in bold as the only teams having noone over 20PPg.
The 03-04 Pistons had the lowest avg at 17.6 with Hamilton, which I think is impressive. Same Team to beat the heavy favored Lakers too. these Pistons really had a great team.

Here is the top scorer for each team and his avg for last 40 years.
temas with top scorer less then 20 PPG in bold.

currently, our top scorers are Manu at 17.9 and TP at 17.3 PPG
If trend continued and we , we would have the team with the lowest Avg for a top scorer....

These guys stats are strangely so similar to our current top 4 scorers, Manu , TP, Duncan and RJ. It's amazing that they follow the same order in positions: SG, PG, PF and SF. Now let's just hope Blair is Big Ben. That's where the difference lies , defense. the million $ question is can we play d like the pistons ?

1Richard Hamilton (http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hamilri01.html)17.6 pts 2Chauncey Billups (http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/billuch01.html)16.9 3Rasheed Wallace (http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/wallara01.html)13.7 4Tayshaun Prince (http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/princta01.html)10.3

Maybe not as a defender, but Blair can get the boards and consistantly score way more than Big Ben.

Copy+paste error on Jordan 97-98 seasons? I don't doubt he ever averaged so low with the Bulls. Checking...

Yeap, 28.7 on 97-98

Didnt mean to say we beat them, just stopped their streak.

We didn't stop their streak, either. MJ retired and they went into the tank. The Bulls haven't had a 50-win season since.
