The weekend wasn't a total loss. He's got Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker all competing in some capacity.

Popovich gave a smirk when asked how he plans to coach the world's greatest players.

"You don't. I'm not gonna coach a lick, and I'm gonna have a helluva time," said the Merrillville grad. "Just thinking about walking in that locker room is a humbling and awesome experience; just to know you're in the same room with the best players on the planet.

"It almost makes you want to laugh. You have to pinch yourself to know that you're in that room. I think it would be quite forward on my part to try to coach those guys."

And so he'll lean back and basically be an observer from the best seat in the house.

"They can do whatever the hell they want to do," Pop said. "I'm just gonna enjoy it."

With the retirement of Utah's Jerry Sloan, Popovich is now the longest-tenured NBA coach with four championships and a 782-372 record in this, his 15th season. Many believe a fifth title is within reach, though it will be a battle to the end.
