I went to heb and walmart and tried to find some decent quality, but ended up just getting some lipton green tea bags in the end.Not the best choice, but I grew tired of looking and comparing after awhile.I'm just looking for a brand that is pretty rich in quality anti-oxidants(egcg) and has a decent taste.Even if the taste isn't great,I can just add some sugar free honey.

My God. Get to Costco. If not, you can buy the Kirkland brand from Amazon. It's made by ito en. Not THE best green tea available, but pretty damn good for the price.

As with fresh food, green tea quality, esp ECGC, declines with time.

Impossible to know how "fresh" green tea is. Tea is very expensive per pound. It appears to be cheaper in bulk, rather packaged in tea bags in envelopes in boxes.

btw, "there was study" that showed the bio-availability of ECGC in green tea was 10x increased when lemon juice was added. I assume that's fresh lemon, not some "I Can't Believe It's Not Lemon" synthetic shit.

And of course if your goal is specifically ECGC medicinally, there are many green tea extract capsules at reasonable price. Jarrow is a good brand

Actually, Lipton isn't bad, really, unless you are talking taste. But then I overbrew green tea regularly, so meh. I also need decaffeinated much of the time and Lipton's decaffeination process is the most natural.

But yes, if you are focused on the EGCG effects, green tea capsules are your best bet.

Also a fan of this brand: http://www.republicoftea.com/green-tea/c/18/

I drink Bigelow Green Tea often (they have it for free here at work). But, the best green tea I have had recently is the Tazo Green Tea they sell at Starbucks. Unfortunately I don't make the excuse to pay $4 for a cup of tea these days, so it's more of a luxury than anything.

You can buy boxed Tazo in a lot of places. I'm pretty sure Target sells Tazo. Same stuff, less expensive.

At first I was stumped on what the heck EGCG was. I Googled and found this article:

In Asia it's common for natives to gift tins of their finest "wellness teas" to visitors; I received several in China---the best was called "dragonwell". More recently in Japan, my husband was gifted a tin of "gyokuro imperial" that was much better than the Chinese green tea. I'm not a regular green tea drinker, usually only take it medicinally when I'm not feeling well, but I finished that tin and bought another at Sun Harvest.
