WOW Aldridge having another awesome game....great oop from Fernandez. Gasol and Bynum had some nice big man game going on early on but nothing since.....they need to get some better looks tbh.

Oh and Kobe missing a lot, cooled off since the AS game.....crofl

Kobe is forcing a lot....needs to have better shot selection. Pau is trying to straight up post Aldridge up and shoot over him, and it is not going well....better ball movement would solve both of these problems for the Lakers.

agree with better ball movement but Kobe's first 4 misses were all makeable shots for him. Pau missed two chippies in the lane as well as the shots over LA ...

Batum is definitely in the elite of flopping..I've noticed it in every game they play, but it seems like he's at a different level tonight, he has at least 5 noticeable flops..

Lakers can't waste this game from Artest, he might not shoot like this ever again:lol..

Earlier in the season, I mentioned the potential and suggested strategy of teams double teaming Bynum..the Spurs did it a little when they played LA, Portland is doing it tonight, I'm not sure if other teams are doing it, but they should be..

He really needs to work on his passing out of double teams..his post moves are sexy, but his passing and vision out of the post is pretty poor, it's probably part of the reason the Lakers don't go to him more often(and obviously the fact that their perimeter players don't know how to throw a decent entry pass)..

We havent won in Portland in forever. I hope we can use this to gain some momentum. Gasol finally powering down the stretch, Artest hitting his shots and playing great D. Bynum just needs to suture up his vagina and we're set.

We won there last year it was 9 in a row before that ... 2 straight at the Rose garden now ...

That is how you close a game ...and you jokers think THIS team can beat the Lakers come playoff time?

Aldridge was balling.
Batum, Rudy hitting 3's
More Ft's Pau fouls out and they STILL can't win ...

I don't think Portland would beat LA in a series, they would probably only win 1 game, but I don't agree with this..

Batum and Fernandez combined to go 10-26 from the field..

If you're playing that game, Artest went for 24 points, which is by far the best game he has had all year, which probably won't happen again..

Lakers doubled and closed out on Aldridge, which changed the game..Portland is very limited outside of Aldridge, he has carried their team as much as any other star in the NBA this season(other than Howard and maybe Dirk)..Spurs didn't adjust when they played, they let Aldridge beat them..

If teams double and close out hard on Aldridge, Portland isn't that good..they should definitely make the move for Wallace..

I dont disagree ... but they were on the road on a backto back genius, portland was rested and waiting and on 6 game win streak, and still lost. That is the main thing I take out of this. Portland still cant beat us when it matters to them more ...they definitely wont beat us in May ...

Lakers on a second of back2back
Pau fouls out
Odom in foul trouble
Even with kobe 6 late trips you shoot more FT's
Lakers have a mess of TO's

And you still lose? Again this means little for the Lakers id be more impressed if they win in OKC ...but for the Blazers? This game should of been a win. They had a 8 point lead late in this game. If they cant win with ALL of those advantages plus Kobe starting 2 of 9 .... they cant beat the Lakers in may.
I stand by that ...

I agree ron's points were a gift but we have gotten that gift from some player at least 1 game on the road per playoff series EXCEPT vs. Boston in 2008.

Artest, Ariza, Fisher, Brown, Farmar, Sasha have all gave us a game similar to Artest's tonight in the playoffs.

Look im not saying we can beat SA or Dallas im just saying we wont lose to Portland ...period. We own they ass in the playoffs and I dont see this version beating us. Will they win one eventually? It's all good Tlong ....but you dont want Lakers ... OKC is abetter matchup because they are not playoff proven either and as much as I love Westbrook, he made some shaky decisions late and Green is a "mental midget".

Hornets would also be a good matchup for the Blazers especially with Paul still not at 100%

Dude, we HAD this game. Batum just couldn't buy a basket late and we gagged. We can beat you guys easy and we know it. Brandon looks good and we limited his minutes so he couldn't play down the stretch or in OT. I think we would have won with him not on a time restriction and remember we get Camby back within the next game or two as well. It looks like we'll be getting Gerald Wallace soon and that will give us more than enough to beat you in a series.

They need a consistent three point shooter off the bench. Its ridiculous how many wide open shots the players other then Kobe get. Shannon needs to get his head out of his ass. I cant wait till Barnes comes back,he might not be a great outside shooter but his hustle & cutting is missed. The bench also meshed a lot better with him.

Ya, the refs were favorable to Portland against the Spurs, similar to tonight against LA, but the main reason they lost was because Pop didn't care to adjust on Aldridge..most of his points were alley-oops, open jump shots and putbacks, and the Spurs didn't send any double teams IIRC..

PORTLAND, Ore. -- After overcoming a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter, Kobe Bryant (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/110/kobe-bryant) and Pau Gasol (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/996/pau-gasol) had a little talk about how the Lakers were going to put the Trail Blazers away in overtime.
Gasol's job was to be aggressive at the start, before Bryant put it away in the end. And that's exactly what happened.
Bryant scored 37 points and Los Angeles stopped Portland's season-best, six-game winning streak with a 106-101 victory Wednesday night.

More on the Lakers

http://a.espncdn.com/i/teamlogos/nba/med/trans/lal.gif

Bryant said he knew Portland was thinking he would take over in OT, so he said to Gasol: "'It's me and you. We're going to go to you, you go to work and do what you do best. Bring us home.' And he did that."

---------

Vintage Kobe last night. Twixt the end of reg & the OT Bryant was imploring Gasol per the above info. It was beautiful.

Interesting take from Dave at Blazers Edge last night...

Some will say the Lakers got lucky with their barrage of threes but keep in mind that the Blazers as currently constituted were forced to cede those shots to prevent a flood of points inside. L.A. didn't get lucky, they were just too big and talented to ignore in the paint.

That said, it struck me tonight that whoever built this team, at least in theory, built a Laker-killing machine. Imagine the results if the Blazers were healthy with Greg Oden, Marcus Camby, and Joel Przybilla to throw in the middle on defense. Imagine no more open threes, instead Batum and Matthews and Fernandez darting everywhere to disrupt shots and dribbles. Imagine Aldridge pounding Gasol and Roy keeping up with Bryant in the scoring department. I'm not saying the Blazers would be the best team in the league, I'm saying they'd cream this particular team 3 times out of 4 because they were built to do just that. It doesn't matter, of course. Nobody's healthy. That's the difference between imagination and championships.

We deep here in Texas too and i have been to road games in SA MEM and DAL ...and they havent been THAT bad ...
TBH I think part of the issue is the arrogance of our fanbase. The second biggest issue is the hatred these teams have for us for winning, the media hype and acting like we own the place ...when we visit. I admit i yell scream and cheer but I also give props to the other team, much like i do here ...

When i was at the aT&T with my wife, kids and mom all in Lakers gear we got heckled a bit but it was never disrespectful. Dallas was bit more rowdy and Memphis fans tried to get in my face ...and I attended that game (Kobe passing West) on my own ...wasnt too bad either. TBH only time i have ever been "concerned" ata sporting event was WCF Lakers vs. Blazers and that was from "loser" Laker fans ... I thought it was funny but my buddies wife was with us and preganant and I just wanted to make sure she was safe. My buddy is Mexican and a big dude and a Raider fan, but his wife is white girl from simi she was terrified ...LOL.
