sorry about so many threads in one day. This is another article that's a few days old but worth posting, if there's any truth to it we're headed for a lockout. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-sternhunter021811

For those who don't feel like reading, it's an article about a younger group of owners (led by Sarver) who want radical change to the CBA. A hard salary cap, much smaller max contracts, and things like franchise tags to level the playing field with higher market teams that can spend more and draw better FAs. It's gonna be really interesting to see how things turn out. The thing owners like Sarver and Dan Gilbert don't seem to realize is they have no bargaining chips. If the Suns and Cavs dropped off the face of the Earth tomorrow, there'd be a 28 team league that wouldn't be very different at all.

Also, if the owners realized that them giving out shit contracts is their own doing, things might be different.

I think the owners deserve a better deal, but they have a lot of the blame.

This is also a point where Sarver loses credibility. If I'm the players union and Sarver is whining about how the teams owned by guys like him need a hard salary cap and smaller max contracts to compete, I'd say, "Um, you just gave Channing Frye and Josh Childress $30,000,000 each :lmao, you seem to be doing fine paying players in the current system."
