Why would the Celtics trade the guy who would have won the title for them last year if healthy?

This is a dumb trade for Boston. Sure they needed depth at the wing behind Pierce but Jeff Green isn't all that great and their depth at the big position was one of their biggest strengths on the team. This stinks partially as a financial move so they don't have to deal with trying to re-sign Perkins in the off season to a $9-10 million a year contract. But really bad move by the Celtics, imo.

Poor kryptonate. I don't think he'll be allowed to chuck nearly as much on the Thunder.

I don't understand this move at all by Boston.

I have to wonder if they just don't trust Perkins' knee anymore, because otherwise this trade makes no sense from their side. They were highly regarded as having the best big men in the league alongside the Lakers, and they just gave that away for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic. I think Green is a good player, but Boston doesn't necessarily need what he brings to their team.

I guess if they're looking ahead to their future then this trade makes a little bit of sense, but since they have such a good chance of winning another title this year, I don't know if they shouldn't have gone all out this last year before making some moves next year.

tbh I think this makes them stronger vs. Miami. They've got another solid wing defender to throw at them. It's not like they need a dominant center against the Heat anyways. I'd definitely take them over Miami in a series.

It just makes them alot shittier against the Lakers or Spurs.

Seems like they were just thinking about making it out of the East and no farther then that. Shaq and Garnett can handle Bosh and Big Z. There's no way that front line holds up against the Lakers though. They have a slightly better chance against the Spurs, but still not great.

There's no doubt they would have beat the Heat and taken the east, and they'd probably be 65/35 vs. the Spurs and 55/45 vs. LA in a potential Finals matchup. I'm still in shock at this deal. How do you break up a title team that's just killing shit this year? There's no doubt they would have beat the Heat and taken the east, and they'd probably be 65/35 vs. the Spurs and 55/45 vs. LA in a potential Finals matchup. This is one of the most bizarre deals I have ever seen at the deadline.

Otis Smith's panic button ain't got shit on Ainge's.

LOL... my first thought when I saw the post was that Kori was going to have to come shut down the NBA forum again.

At least I can be happy that there will now be no #5 for Shaq. Miami just has to be dying in laughter right now. Whoever comes out of the West is going to have to go through two of LA, SA, Dallas, OKC; it's going to be like the 80s when Boston, Detroit, and Philly would beat the dogshit out of each other only to face a well-rested Lakers team.

Boston probably has Sheed lined up. Too bad the last cardio Sheed did was in June.

The trade sucks but don't get carried away. With or without Perkins the C's beat those 3 homos.

This trade means Boston is no longer a title contender. Even if they get Murph. They were built on having great interior defense. That's what made the great. Ainge just fucked everybody here. So much so that I don't believe it.

And OKC is the best defensive team perhaps in the league now.

dont see OKC moving up to the 3rd seed but they just became an exponentially tougher out for SA/LA.

If Perk is healthy then it goes a long way to negating the advantages that Spurs/Duncan and LA/Gasol/Bynum have against them.

Great move by Presti.

I dont know. I think OKC has a great chance of moving to the 3rd seed. At first glance this give the Thunder exactly what they have been missing...an inside presence. Plus, if the Lakers keep playing they way they have been lately I think they can slide down to the 4th seed.

bad move for boston, decent move for OKC. don't know why boston would give up its championship center for green...

One can only think the Boston's FO knows something that we don't. Either injury related or contract related. I don't see how they could get rid of Perk if the same Perk was coming back to the team.

As for OKC, good move for them, they finally get rid of Green(he clearly wasn't going to work out there), they finally get the post presence that they need..Perkins will help set screens for Durant, he'll help the 28th ranked team in the NBA at points in the paint allowed..I wonder about his injuries, though..

They're going to peak though, by signing Perkins, long-term..he's not worth it, they won't be able to acquire any other players..they won't win a title, unless Ibaka develops some kind of paint game..

Btw, the Nazr move was solid, surprised only a few people mentioned it..

Danny Ainge is a fool. You just gave away a great shot at winning a title. So his idea is for Krstic, and the O'neals to hold down the fort? This is a fuckery of a trade.

HH and I have been saying that Green was a terrible fit for OKC for a while now. Glad to see they realized it as well. Obviously he is more talented than Perk overall, but his talents aren't impactful.

+1. Agreed. Celtics just made it that much easier for Lebron and Wade to get into the paint.
